Nigeria Is A Good Country.we Have Only One Problem. by Antiscam1: 12:58pm On Mar 13, 2011
I ve always wonder why so many people think Nigeria's problems are so complex?
infact, some pple think is so many!
The worst of this,is dat pple think that dis problems are peculiar to NIGERIA alone.i.e not obtained
in d so called developed countries.
All dis are BIG LIES!

it may interest u to know dat Nigeria's problem is NOT:
Corruption, security, bad education system etc, What den is our problem.?
The ONLY problem Nigeria has is POWER GENERATION.dis singular problem is d brain behind every other perceived problems
u can ever think of.Just go practical, pick up ur pen and start writing down practical ways to solve our national problems & u will
notice dat none of dem will succeed without STABLE POWER as a source of electricity to d country.

Reverse d trend and assume dat Nigeria has uninterrupted power for years like most countries do,and start writing practical
way to solve our problems.U wil discover dat dey are all workable!
WOT is ur OPINION:WARNING:This thread is for people dat think only.

You have made a very strong point however, I will prefer to say that Power is the most pressing short term problem we have. It is also a very simple one to solve. It is one thing that can score any president cheap points. Any president that can solve the power problem will have his name written in the record books of Nigerians for ever.

Corruption on the other hand is a HUMAN problem. From USA to Somalia, corruption is everywhere. It is a long term problem that cannot be solved by one government in a few years. It is something we have to keep working at. Any serious minded government in today's Nigeria should not have fighting corruption as its number one priority. To start with, what will be the standards? It should be tackled as a background problem that needs a strategic and gradual solution.

That is not the only problem, the Nigerian problem could be traced to many things .firstly the country is individualistic in nature and people are not collective ,individualism as brought about corruption and greed.the electricty problem is man made. You could solve it through waste ,hydro, wind, gas etc.But you need to be very tough to solve it.

Just look at other sectors and see foriegn domination in Nigeria, airlines, maritime, oil and gas. We need to take vocational education serious and take away those jobs from the white people in our country.

I agree with you OP, that Nigeria's number one problem is the electrical one. but I disagree with efisher that It's  a very simple one to solve. Nigeria automatically enters the big boys league(G 20) when we solve this problem. na beans?
Re: Nigeria Is A Good Country.we Have Only One Problem. by efisher(m): 6:24pm On Mar 13, 2011
The reasons I think the power problem is an easy one to solve:

1. It is mostly an engineering problem that has a proven engineering solution.
2. We have more than enough gas reserves to meet our power needs. We have the 8th largest gas reserves on earth (Just after UAE)  shocked
3. We have ALL the expertise on ground to plan, build and run power plants.
4. We have local and international investors ready to spend money in the power sector.
5. We have a very large and willing market.

The power problem is as easy to solve as the telecom problem. Did you ever think that in few years, Nigerians could boast of owning mobile phones? Before MTN and GLO, it felt impossible. It only seems tough because we have not been able to solve it over the years. Put the right people there and see how easy it is. How difficult is it to wire a house, buy a generator and run it? I dare say that a man like Fashola has proven that if he is made president, he can tackle the problem in a few years. When the right people are in place, they make certain things look like "BEANS".

I beg to disagree with poster. Corruption is the single most important problem we have, it is not power generation. Between 1999 and 2007 about 16 billion Dollars without significantly improving the fortunes of that sector. What happened? Most of the money went into private pockets. Two former ministers of power made so much money that their financial warchest easily gave them victory in thier states as governors- Liyel Imoke and Olusegun Agagu. It is true every country battles corruption but Nigeria's level of corruption is so high that it is crippling everything. Iam sorry but corruption is our most important problem period!
Re: Nigeria Is A Good Country.we Have Only One Problem. by Antiscam1: 1:29pm On Mar 14, 2011
@GOODYdave,If u think corruption is our problem.it is a point BUT consider d following.
1.Is Nigeria d only country with corruption, obviously NO.
2.How about corrupt developed countries!,Do u think is impossible to have a corrupt developed country
Well, corrupt developd countries are d highest type of country u can think of;If u disagree mention d so call developed
country u will see dat.ALL COUNTRIES are corrupt.Infact, dey are more corrupt because most of dem have been in existence
many years b4 d birth of NIGERIA.statistically speaking dey should ve ELIMINATED corruption but here we are.
or did u think dat d former NAIJA corrupt-governor dat disguised as a woman & escape 4rm UK did dat without d back up of d CORRUPT
uk authorities?
4.If corruption is our problem,Why is d telecommuncatn sector working?,did NAFDAC ever worked?why?
3.Can u imagine how creative with production sector NIGERIAN will b if we have functional POWER?don't u think d ABA/ibo guys can do wot
did chinese guys are doing dat has put dier country on global map?
4.do u think people will still see politics as d only available job when dere is functional power?IF no den, corruption will DIE a natural death!
5.FORBES says dere are 4 billionaire in AFRICA,yet a NIGERIAN without electricity is no1,& best entrepreneur for 2010 GLOBALLY(dis is just an attestation 4 our ability)
THERE4,forget corruption & fix d power sector and see if our name(NIGERIA) will not OVERSHADOW d corrupt-label dat pple are making unecessary noise
about!dIS IS EXACTLY D SITUATION IN MOST DEVELOPED COUNTRIES!!!!!

Re: Nigeria Is A Good Country.we Have Only One Problem. by GOODYDAVE: 8:57pm On Mar 14, 2011
Nigeria is not the only country with corruption. The diffrence is that while corrupt people in other countries hide to carry out thier activities, in Nigeria they are celebrated with government representation. Imagine Jonathan sending a representative to welcome 'saint Bode George' from jail. With the level of corruption in Nigeria nothing works. For example, you award a contract (outrageously inflated) to build a power station then 80 percent of the entire contract sum is diverted to private pockets, how then do you solve the problem. Meanwhile You can't stop them because they are your party members(PDP) and you yourself is corrupt(JONATHAN). Iam sure you now see why corruption is Nigeria's greatest problem.
Re: Nigeria Is A Good Country.we Have Only One Problem. by jumobi1(m): 9:36pm On Mar 14, 2011
Power is the number one problem and its easier to solve than corruption. With electricity=more jobs=more money=improved literacy which would reduce corruption.

Re: Nigeria Is A Good Country.we Have Only One Problem. by stonemasonn: 2:57pm On Jul 21, 2019
If we return to regional system of governance, corruption will reduce considerable. Some regions like south south will be extremely corrupt due to excess oil, while regions like south east, south west and north west will buckle up. The north east, north central and south south people are still primitive except for Benin and Kwara.

The major problem of nigeria is Nigerians.

Nigerians are ignorant. They don't know what it means to own and run a democratic government. Nigerians are scared of the government they own. They don't behave like they care about Nigeria. They take all sorts of nonsense from politicians in power.

The ignorance and cowardice of Nigerians is the major problem of nigeria.
