CPC/PDP clash: 9 injured in Jigawa

No fewer than nine people were injured in a clash between supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) which occurred at Yalwan Damai village in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Confirming the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, ASP Abdul Jinjiri said, the incident happened on Saturday when a CPC candidate for the National Assembly, Buji Birninkudu constituency, Mr Magaji Dau Aliyu, and with his supporters went to Yalawan Damai village on their way to Sabon Garin Yaya village on a condolence visit.

According to Jinjiri, the CPC candidate arrived Yalwan Damai at a time the PDP supporters were holding a rally in the village.

He also revealed that, immediately the supporters of the two party met, they engaged in fighting in which nine people were critically injured.

Jinjiri added that, the police had not made any arrest as at the time he was speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, but that the matter was being investigated.

The PDP state Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Aminu Jahun, said the CPC candidate had visited the village deliberately to cause chaos, as he had a full knowledge that PDP was holding a rally in the village.

But Dau Ali’s campaign director, Barrister Murtala, said they were in the village on their way to sympathise with their members following the alleged burning of their party offices, intimidation and beating of some of them by PDP supporters during their rally at the constituency.

When PDP keep preaching Do-Or-Die politics. I condemn violence in every form. But PDP should not expect Nigerians to turn the other chick, if slapped again.

why won't they fight? both parties have violence in their DNA, don't vote for either party. vote Ribadu and we will have the desired change in an atmosphere of peace and justice.

To up root PDP will require some element of pressure. Ribadu is a good man but one cannot duck around the way Jonathan did with Turai and expect others to get it for him. Ribadu needs to support Buhari - he have a role to play to help Buhari with his objectives. Dividing the votes to favour Jonathan will not get him anything good.

Its really funny the way some of are reasoning.

PDP, CPC, ACN, or anyother party are nothing but mere names.
Violence has nothing to do with the name of the party, it has to do with the mindset of the people. A man does not change by changing party.

Atiku moved from the PDP to the then AC and back to the PDP: the man changed party but remains the same man.

Gov T. A. Orji of Abia moved from PPA to APGA and then to PDP: the man changed party but remains the same man.

Will the son of Abacha have the same principles with Buhari because he belongs to the CPC?
The mindset of the great people of Nairaland was to down play the bomb thrown at a PDP, but all hell would have let loose if the bomb was thrown against the opposition. The PDP would've been guilty, whether they are or not.

It is obvious that we are simply palying the dirty game of politics:
That is, every evil done by our man is justified and every good thing done by the opposition is condemned.

It is a SHAME.
