The Nigerian military has accused civilians of failing to provide information about terrorists and their activities.

Major General John Enenche, Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, dismissed the allegations of sabotage made against the military.

He insisted that for effectiveness of operations, citizens must offer credible intelligence.

“You need a guide, you need information. Will they tell us? That’s one of the issues we have been ensuring to overcome, with civil-military cooperation activities, reaching out to them, even sending people by proxy to talk to them.”

The spokesman lamented that locals keep quiet even when they know insurgents have planted bombs against troops.

“Our patrols will pass through a route, in a village. By the time you are going, some people are looking at you. When you are coming back, the next thing is that you meet an IED planted on the road. And people saw them, they won’t tell you.”

Enenche added that it is not possible to force information out of people.

The General said the military is trying to build up people’s confidence in the system and encourage them to divulge useful information.

The entire military is mad. How can the military be this stupid? They lack in everything including intelligence and tactics.

The warning residents gave them about Boko boys invasion on farmers did they listen? They're trying to play the victim card. Whatsoever a man sows, he must reap

I think it's wrong for the Military to blame civilians for their glaring incompetence. While civilians are oblige to provide Intel to the security force, it is even more important for them to feel safe providing such. What measure has the military put in place to make it very easy to receive these Intel and how do they utilize them? These attacks have been going on for years, surely blaming the civilians will not cut it.

Our security personnel should do more in combat zones; far better than they do when dealing with unarmed civilians.

The US armed forces relies solely on their own Defense Intelligence Agency for Intel.

The DIA even refuses CIA Intel and vetting of would be employees .

This is because the DIA relies heavily on their own security network and intelligence gathering .

The CIA is so crooked that nobody takes their Intel on face value but rather build up or follow up on their dossier.

The Nigerian Army has their own equivalent of the US DIA which is the DMI . What are those quota system idiots doing other than tracking down fellow sojas that make videos or posts calling out Buruntai's incompetence.

I think he is just being sarcastic here.I am sure he is doing this as a retaliation against the North ,since they joined in undermining the effort of the ENDSARS protest and labelled the activities of the people as Anti-Buahri movement. Calling any information, relating to the Lekki shooting as fake news. ..Dont take him seriously.

DSS is equivalent to US FBI which is vested to investigate and prosecute federal and cross border crimes.

Since BH has an international network beyond Nigeria, both the NIA and DMI are the ones more suited to providing intelligence on BH arms and financial movement.
