FACT CHECK: Is Governor Zulum Right To Say Buhari Has Done Better On Security? by TheRareGem1(f): 8:13am On Dec 08, 2020
On Sunday, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State told a delegation of the northern elders from the Arewa Consultative Forum in Maiduguri, that despite a recent Boko Haram attack on Zambarmari village in Jere Local Government Area that President Muhammadu Buhari has done very well according to state records.

“From statewide statistics on affairs in the 27 local government areas since 2011, the fact is that despite the recent happenings in Borno State, the security situation in Borno State and indeed that of the Entire North East Sub-region is still far better under Buhari, and this is based on records,” Zulum told the delegation.

Chronicle NG has fact checked the statement of the Borno governor and has found this to be TRUE. The attacks by terrorists groups have been random and largely restricted to villages in Borno state. There are others that have been close to the capital, Maiduguri but the terrorist group has not been able to attack the Northeast like it did in the past.

To put a perspective to it, Chronicle NG recalled that in the past many attacks on churches and mosques especially at the end of the year were mainstay. Records support Governor Zulum’s statement that churches and mosques have been hardly attacked and that no major attack has taken place in the capital.

Although there have been two attacks on the governor himself, Boko Haram attacks have been largely curbed. Findings reveal that they use the Niger and Chad border as cover up for attacks on Borno villages and that the Buhari administration needs to place focus on erecting barricades to this effect.

Lastly, attacks on Abuja, Kano, Niger and even Lagos which occurred before the Buhari administration are no more. Other Northeast states Adamawa and Yobe and breathing sigh of relief.

Just to help us better understand the governor’s statement, Boko Haram used to control 17 LGAs but now they attack villages after making inroads from the border.

Boko Haram used to bomb churches, mosques and markets but all that has been halted now.

Boko Haram used to kill Christians, Muslims targeting special holidays like Christmas, Sallah, etc across the Northeast but now they have been restricted to random attacks in Borno State only.

Boko Haram attacked other States in Nigeria and they had attacks even in the Federal Capital Territory.

Truth is always bitter to enemies of Nigeria. All they know is to jubilate any negative statistics from USA. USA thinks they are next to God, who is checking them

There is no reason for the needless comparison. Boko haram only changed their strategy since bandits are already helping the run riot in other states and regions.

Believe me if boko haram decides to bomb any city today, it will do that with ease.

The porous borders is the major Achilles hill in the fight against insecurity in the North. If the borders can be checkmated ,terrorism will be defeated totally

Like it's always said, everyone is entitled to his own opinions but saying trash against backdrops of recent events in the country is utmost disregard for the suffering populace. It's vile and uncouth to be insensitive to the plight of the teeming populace. Let's not encourage playing politics with everything at the slightest opportunity.

Like someone said on Twitter, F9 is F9. If you score 39 and I score 23 na F9 we still get. Zulum I have no word for you.

Buhari is no difference to Jonathan but rather, worse. The insecurity is no longer in Borno alone but has spread throughout the whole north. People are killed everyday by Boko children or Bandits. The insecurity in Nigeria now is the worst in history. Going out to buy something from a nearby kiosk and returning back without getting killed or kidnapped is a big testimony.
