It's a common knowledge in Mathematics that when things are arranged in chronological order, the first and the last will be the oldest and the youngest respectively. A simple example is in siblings.

But that contradicts The Yoruba belief about twins

It's believed in Yoruba land that Kehinde (which literarily means "he who come last"wink and indeed who was given birth to last is older than Taiye who came first.

Why is this so?
Help a curious fellow.

Because (s)he was wiser and asked Taiye to go out first. This is myth, of course.

If the elders were in the habit of doing something the wrong way, the now better educated youths should be confident enough to correct respectfully them, Instead of perpetuating illogical concepts in the name of tradition.

We can't challenge ancient wisdom. Perhaps it may be scientifically proven that the older baby is formed first and thus, will be birthed before the young baby who is formed later.
Apparently, other cultures don't share our idea of Taiye being the youngest. They believe that the older baby is born first and perhaps they are both the same age in some cultures. Let's let our ancients have this one, since they invented eba. :-)
