The fault is not completely that of Lord Lugard who was known to have amalgamated the northern protectorate with the southern protectorate to form one country Nigeria.

The fault is that of the nationalist like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe etc who never thought about the future of the Nigeria under a northern control.

These two men represented the south at the London conference shortly before Independence was handed over to Nigeria.

They willingly and without any opposition accepted Independence under one country instead of demanding for a separate country for their regions.

They were thinking that when the whitemen live Nigerians will love themselves both north and south but that was not to be as the military stage the first coup of 1966 pushing the politician that was practising parliamentary democracy and they brought in military unitary constitution under the military leadership of Major General Aguiyi Ironsi.

Just recently around 1999 the same mistakes that was done in the London conference was repeated when the military was leaving under General Abdulsalami Abubakar as military head of state succeeding the late General Sani Abacha, another military constitution was forced down the throat of politicians.

The political class who were greedy for public office blindly struggled to take over from the outgoing military government and they accepted the 1999 constitution not for the the people interest but they all just want to occupy political office and then loot the treasury.

THE 1999 CONSTITUTION IS WHAT IS TROUBLING NIGERIA AS AT TODAY BECAUSE IT WAS ACCEPTED BY THE POLITICIANS WHO SHOULD HAVE REJECTED IT AND DEMAND FOR THE PEOPLES CONSTITUTION.

In 2014, Jonathan who started the sovereign national conference could not implement the report as he passed it to President Buhari who said that report should be taken to the archives unimplemented.

I proposed that Any negotiation for restructuring in Nigeria should include the right of the regions to seek for their Independence if they are not satisfy with the union.
