I am pleased to start this thread in full support of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. It is an avenue for Nairalanders to showcase to the world why GEJ should continue as President of Nigeria beyond 2011. Feel free to show your support.

THE MAN WHO LISTENS TO THE PEOPLE On 28 June 2010, Jonathan created a Facebook fan page, a way of Socializing and sharing ideas with the people of Nigeria. He makes daily profile updates on Facebook and currently has over 500,000 fans on the Social networking site. On 6 January 2011, he wrote: "I was deeply pained as the leader of this great nation to read the comments of certain persons who yesterday described some Nigerians who happen to be PDP delegates as being "mere". The Almighty who created all Nigerians does not see them as "mere" and neither do I. We are one nation, one people who have value in the eye of true leaders." According to CNN, Jonathan has more Facebook fans than the combined tally of British Prime Minister David Cameron, German chancellor Angela Merkel, and South African head of state Jacob Zuma. Moreover, fresh updates on his Facebook wall appear to be written by Jonathan himself. He is often regarded as "The Facebook president" by CNN |

A TRUE NIGERIAN "There are only two types of people in Nigeria: Good or Bad and not Northerners or Southerners. Assess people by their character which they control not by their place of origin which they cannot control. God made us and placed us in the locality where we were born. To discriminate against any human based on place of origin is to question the wisdom of God. And the wisdom of God is beyond the wisdom of man". GEJ |

You are all welcome to the FRESH AIR CAMP. As GEJ said, there are no Northerners or southerners, there are only good and bad Nigerians. I will add that good or bad, you are all Nigerians anyway. Therefore, to all of you who post crap: You are welcome. We do not discriminate here. In this camp, you may come from the smallest town in Nigeria but you can achieve your dreams. Embrace the freshness of a new Nigeria. Led by a new breed. Let us build Nigeria together. Vote GEJ/Sambo for progress. |

GEJ is the very first thinking President Nigeria has had in her long and arduous 50 year history. I am impressed by his thoughts toward the technological development of Nigeria. At the debate this evening, he promised to create a framework to create and regulate micro-refineries; currently, JTF destroys such enterprises, rather than harness and improve the technology. He is also (amongst other initiatives) creating a bill to set aside 1% of Nigeria's GDP for research and Development for both public and private sectors. For the first time in our 50 year history: FG to set aside one per cent of GDP for research Others are, the gas masterplan which will create 300,000 jobs; the power roadmap that will bring business costs down by 40%, and his sponsoring of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) which will see Nigeria's income rocket from $101billion to $687billion! |

Wonderful. I was particularly impressed by his move to conduct an external audit of NNPC. People have asked questions about his anti-corruption stance. Things like that are what bring transparency to the system. What about the sanitization of the banks? That is another laudable anti-corruption move. We have seen bank chiefs charged to court and prosecuted for various offences. We have seen the appointment of capable hands. Men and women like Sanusi, Jega and Deziani Madueke. With a great team like this, we will move forward. |

FORWARD THINKING, FORWAD ACTING "I appointed the best minds to manage our economy, provided unprecedented funding to Manufacturers, increased Power Generation and stabilized Banks via the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) all of which resulted in an 8.29% GDP growth and recognition from trading partners (most notably The U.K.) that Nigeria is now the world's 4th fastest growing economy. Let us continue on this trajectory together". GEJ Fresh Air 2011!! |

I HAVE A DREAM: GEJ I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'" "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." "I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Jos the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood." "This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day." "Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksand of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children."
