For putting the entire nation through this tragedy the most honorable thing for Jega. To do is to resign.

No he shouldn't resign. When will people learn that the problem wrong with this country is not just about the person incharge. It's about the system. If the system is right even if you put a dummy there he will still perform.

^^^ Blaming the system is really old. I know for sure that since Jega took over, there has been a sort of 'cleansing' of INEC. Many former INEC officers were relieved of their duties and many are still awaiting their fate. I am not certain how this particular issues amounts to a SYSTEM issue of any sort.

Jega has taken the blame, but from what I gathered its really not his fault, neither is it the system. He devised a method to outwit crooked politicians by bringing some very sensitive materials in last minute. The tragic even in Japan affected the freight schedule and hence the unexpected "extra" delay which is led to this boo-boo!

Lets take it in good faith and keep the line. All is not lost, and we need not chop off Jega's head for trying to prevent desperate political crooks from rigging. He meant well, but fate has it.

You are lying!

The article does not even mention, "Federal Government" at all, it only mentions the Indepent Electoral Commission.

@yemifeelme,
this same pdp led govt inauguarrated a high powered electorial committee called uwais committee. the idea of this committee that was sponsored with tax payers' money was to find lasting solutions to our electorial problems.
two main issues raised by this committee are;
1. that the inec chairman who is supposed to be an independent and impartial judge be appointed by an independent body outside the presidency. we know the implication of a man appointing a juduge in a case he is involved in. let any truthful nigerian tell us how righteous is jega to bite the finger that feeds him.
2. there was this issue of concluding all elections at least six months prior to hand over. this is to give chance and time for aggrieved parties to seek redress within this time line. may is the hand over and we are yet to know who will rule. these men will get into office by any means and start using state's funds for court cases.
we have Jega 1 - inect chairman and we have jonathan ebele goodluck azikiwe(jega2) jega 1 will always ask jega 2 for more money.
all nigeria needs at this time is not this repeated ill organised selections rather we need protests and revolution. we need certain drastaic changes in this country. ppl are moving ahead and we continue going backward on daily basis.
i have never believed in this jega because nothing has made him the most qualified for the post apart from the pdp zoning criminalities.
as long as there is no genuine foundation or plans to institutionalise our top commissions, nothing will work out fine.
yesterday, to was mourice today is is about jega. on the other hand, efcc was about ribadu, fct was about el rufai and nafdac was about dora. this is all wrong. we need to make all these institutions stand as constitutional organisations rather than individual things.
we are just decieving ourselves.
jega1 will never look down on the man that has made him a billionaire.

I'm still crossing my fingers and hope that Jega will be able to pull this through. Nigeria is overdue to move to the next level.

the annoying thing is that those complaining about the postponement constitute those who never made attempt to come out and vote! #wagging tongues
