1999 Constitution is fraudulent — Ayo Adebanjo

Afenifere chieftain, Adebanjo, said the 1999 constitution was fraudulent and did not articulate the collective will of the people, having been imposed on the nation by the military.

Adebanjo noted that the country must return to the 1960 Independence Constitution when the regions had autonomy.

He said, “My view is that 1960 and 1963 constitutions gave us more freedom and autonomy which we are all agitating for.

“Why we are emphasizing restructuring now? Because the 1999 constitution is fraudulent. It does not represent the choice of the people.

“Interestingly, when we talk of restructuring, some of our friends from the North will say ‘they want yo break the country’. But, anyone opposed to true federalism which is restructuring is the one who wants to break the country.

“The question of insecurity the country is facing now is because the governors do not have control over the security agencies in their states. That is what we need to address now.

“Where should the presidency go in 2023? That is not the question now. The key question is to first keep the country together. Then, let us make the question of presidency constitutional not gentleman’s agreement.

“Anybody talking about the election without changing this constitution does not love this country. It is the 1999 constitution that has made Northern Nigerians believe, if they don’t support anybody, he or she cannot be president.

“All the agitation about Biafran separation is because they (Igbos) feel excluded under the constitution. I only hope the progressive elements in the North will persuade President Buhari to restructure the country now before everything burns to blazes.

“The Constitution, we have now is a fraudulent constitution. It is not our constitution. Most importantly, it has failed, and everybody testified to this fact. It is simply not working.

“To save us from this situation, we must impress upon President Buhari to change the constitution to one that everybody agrees to.”

He almost said the truth. But I doubt if restructuring will end the Biafran agitation. No, not now that millions have paid the ultimate price for it while the fundamental causes of the war are getting reinforced by the day.

And, do you guys even realize that what you call 'restructuring' had been in place in 1966 when the Nigerian Civil War reared its ugly head? So, how can it be of benefit now? For example, will it stop the herder tribe from overstepping their boundaries and killing people in their homes and farms?

If we can think clearly, we can see with Igbos that the only thing that can save this place is a breakup with each people maintaining a full territorial integrity - fully independent armed forces, resource management, political sovereignty, etc. In such a situation, when anyone oversteps the boundary, it becomes a clear issue of international politics, no longer within the manipulations of the local political class.

It's better to break an embattled marriage and stay in friendship than to keep it and stay in conflict. Mark my word: If we refuse to listen to the voice of reason to break up this contraption, OUR UNBORN GENERATIONS WILL USE US AS A CURSE WORD. Only selfish politicians who still have something personal to gain from Nigeria keep using such expressions as 'one Nigeria' and 'restructuring'.

I have so much more to say on this but let me rest my case for now.

Please, IF YOU OWN A BUSINESS, I urge you to read up my recent publication entitled "THE EASIEST WAY TO SELL ANYTHING THESE DAYS". Find the link on my profile. Thanks.

Biafra: Why Igbos want their own country – Afenifere chieftain

Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has revealed why agitation for the rebirth of the defunct Republic of Biafra continues to gather momentum.

According to him, the clamour for thr disintegration of Nigeria will continue to pervade the air until the country is restructured.

He said, “Interestingly, when we talk of restructuring, some of our friends from the North will say ‘they want to break the country’. But, anyone opposed to true federalism which is restructuring is the one who wants to break the country.”

“All the agitation about Biafran separation is because they (Igbos) feel excluded under the constitution.

Restructuring would have been good but now it is already late.

Not when Nigeria army have killed more than three hundred unarmed biafra youths doing peaceful protest and prayer meeting.

If they insist on restructuring, then north and west should donate three hundred plus of their youths for public execution to equate biafran youths killed.

When that is done, then we will try restructuring.

Ayo Adebanjo should be elementarily informed restructure does not mean federalism. The restructure requires simple equity in the socio-economic arrangement. The defunct northern region has Abuja while defunct western region has Lagos. These two points are major economical connection between Nigeria and the world. What do we have in the defunct eastern and midwestern regions? The answer is absolutely nothing. The main and real restructure will aim to have point of economic connection with outside world in defunct eastern and midwestern regions constructed with commonwealth or disintegration of Nigeria or a possible war shall remain the option. Why would anybody from the defunct eastern region want a silly federalism within Nigeria when it is better to have own and separate country from Nigeria? A country in the defunct eastern and midwestern regions will instantly provide for the point of international connection within a day of independence. I am for unconditional disintegration of the shithole called Nigeria. I shall prefer Republic of Igboland to any country but would not mind Biafra if honestly agreed to exist.

“To save us from this situation, we must impress upon President Buhari to change the constitution to one that everybody agrees to.”

This is the most impossible task in the universe.

I'm Yoruba and truth be told, every region in a federalism system of government has the right to ask for secession especially when the system isn't working for them. I mean look at Sudan for example, though not without bloodshed but the job got done. Look at how small countries are in Europe, it's because each country is like a tribe. Each country has the same beliefs, ideologies and occasionally religion but in Africa, they just lumped us (different tribes) together for financial gains thereby creating an avenue for endless misunderstanding and unwarranted bloodshed. The English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh all speak English but their cultures are different and they stand separately for it. If it were in Africa, Austria, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg would all be in one country. Our problems are far from over.

Just imagine the president's people that still believe in the archaic system of cattle herding that makes the cows look lean as opposed to fat, healthy cows raised in a ranch. Are they not supposed to have their own country and quit using their own to worry others?

Asian and European and Americans are eliminating fuel cars in the next 10-15 years time.

Crude oil will fall in price to $11 per barrel obviously. Which means we're going to be in serious trouble with this kind of ancient leaders we have today.

Nigeria should understand that they're not important to this car manufacturers cos they know we're into second hand cars.

God please punish all these politicians with extraction mentality and greed.

The Constitution of this country is not the main reason, Biafra country existed many years ago witnessed by the portugal the first european country that visited biafra nation before the coming of british which later amalgamated us with this blood sucking nothern region by lord lugard, Biafra is already a country before integration and igbo especially IPOB Lead by kanu will continue to actualize it till eventually acheived again.

First of all, the idea of Biafra has long left the igbo mans mind as just lapses in the constitution but it now an ideology.. And we all know what an ideology do to a man.. Its very if not extremely difficult telling a man to stop believing in what he beliefs in.. You can't take that away anymore in an igbo mans mind.. Mind you, if you call some people IPOB and some igbo then you are only lieing to yourself. Any man born of the igbo tribe is an IPOB whether you like to believe that or not the truth can not be changed by what you think.. Nigeria getting better will not take the crave for a united biafra nation away from a regular igbo man don't let things get twisted.. It an ideology you don't take it away from a person or people you can only systematically reduce it influence when do the right things or when things are working.. So far as I can tell, whether as an igbo man who doesn't buy the ideology of a biafra nation just have it at the back of your mind that you are an indegenous person of the biafra nation. Nigerians at large will come to an agreement soon that I know on how to separate the country sooner or later.

And this man is calling on the wrong person to restructure this country constitution. Buhari doesn't or won't do that. We all know where his interest lies. Buhari added more salt to the injury Nigeria as a county was nursing

The Igbos are too dull when it comes to politics. imagine the hausa's, as mumuish as they are and the yorubas as insipid as they are— does better in politics than the so-called igbo fools.

The three major tribes in Nigeria is saturated with 99.99% idiots
