The National Secretary, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Mr Saleh Alhassan, has said his group indeed demanded from the Federal Government the payment of N100bn to herders but for the construction of ranches and not for amnesty as reported on social media.

Alhassan made the clarification in an interview with The PUNCH on Thursday.

He claimed former President Goodluck Jonathan promised to give them the money and that was what informed their decision to support his re-election in 2015.

The Miyetti Allah chief, however, said that after Jonathan left, the initiative was suspended, hence the decision of the group to present the matter to the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

Asked why N100bn should be paid to violent herders to stop kidnappings, Alhassan said, “That is a mischievous statement. Do they pay money like that? Have they ever paid any money like that? That N100bn has been on the table for mini-ranches since 2014 when (former) President Goodluck Jonathan was trying to address the lingering crisis between farmers and herders.

“So, part of that money was, I think, used by state governors under the committee chaired by the then Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam. But I don’t think the bulk of the money has reached the pastoralists, the herders.

“As part of that policy, they (the Federal Government) are trying to see how they can now assist livestock producers to address farmers/herders conflicts via a policy.”

He added, “So, people now saying they have given Miyetti Allah N100bn to stop kidnappings are just being mischievous because from what we have observed, there are certain people that are twisting narratives.”

Alhassan lamented that some Nigerians didn’t want any kind of support to come from the government for livestock development.

“If we are going to have ranches, definitely, some support would come from government,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and some government officials had come under fire last week for allegedly promising to pay Miyetti Allah N100bn as amnesty to curb the rise in banditry, kidnapping and killings.

However, both the police and the Presidency denied ever discussing money with herdsmen.

Alhassan said there was nothing wrong if Buhari honoured a promise made by Jonathan to the farmers.

“If today, the Buhari government sees policy that was there since 2014 and wants to see how it can be implemented by supporting cattle breeders, not just Fulani but anybody that is breeding livestock, to access facility like the Anchor Borrowers you have with the Central Bank of Nigeria, I don’t think it’s something that calls for propaganda.”

I watched the video again a few minutes ago and the 100bn given was to stop kidnapping by the herdsmen who originally asked for 160bn. Why do these cretins lie so openly

SHAME and massive POOH POOH to
- The Presidency
- National Economic council
- Nigeria Governors Forum
- Northern Governors Forum

Talks, talks and more talks. Why hasn't a PILOT ranch constructed and launched in one of the Northern States? For example, Kano volunteered land but Fulani herdsmen wahala died down and we moved on.

If Federal Government is sure that ranching will MODERNIZE and SOLVE this Fulani Herdsmen problem, then go ahead and do something. That's why you were elected: to generate ideas and solve problems. Of course, there will be opposing views but do the needful with measured risks. Late Pres. Yar'adua faced criticisms with Niger Delta Militant Amnesty program but he still found a way to do it and solve the problem.

All they do is just keep talking and keep embezzling to grow personal fortunes and expand political influence. TUEH!

He claimed former President Goodluck Jonathan promised to give them the money and that was what informed their decision to support his re-election in 2015.
This is one of the evil, wicked and criminal lifestyle Jonathan and his evil party bestowed on our darling nation for 16 years.

The greatest tragedy that can befall a nation is for some of her citizens to suffer collective amnesia.... intentionally!

We all still remembered the mayhem the Niger Delta kidnappers caused in this nation in all the years Jonathan was in power.
Ikorodureporta still remembers how these guys chased him away from his abode in Isawo Ikorodu, burning down and killing all the policemen and women at Owutu Police Station (the thread is still here)
And all the killings and kidnapping incidents in Arepo and different areas in Lagos and Nigeria at large.
They were everywhere kidnapping, killing, raping women.
And what was Jona solution and approach ?
He gave them amnesty and sent many of them abroad, with Tax payers money...even giving them monthly allowance up to half a million naira per person for years, just that they could stop kidnapping and pipeline explosions!!

The foundations of this country has been destroyed by some bastard politicians most def.
May all those kinda politicians all end terribly in this nation.
They will never end well in life.

To all hypocrites hiding from the truth,
We will always hit your empty heads with the truth daily.
Truth is not bitter, just that some people are bitter to the truth.

We Rise!

Cajal:
...ASUU agreements with GEJ still dey hurt our Universities
Day one sef na another wahala the evil party bestowed on our nation.
But hypocrisy has blinded some people!
They hate reading the truth.

imagine giving those herdsmen 100billion naira just to stop their nonsense..
I wondered why government will have to favour herdsmen out of many persons in Nigeria because they don't know what to use the money to do...

Jonathan has always been a naive, utterly ignorant political wreck anyways.. So no need here.. He's seen globally as the father of decent democracy in Nigeria, yet he was the one that handed power to a proven jihadist whose segregational and polarising habits were so destructive that his fellow Muslim northern officers had to shove him aside in a palace coup in 1985! Without Jonathan dropping the ball, Buhari wouldn't have been president because there were more than enough reasons to disqualify him, or "out-hussle" him in the election proper! No true patriot hands over the reigns of governance of his country to a platoon of janja-weed upstarts just because you want to be seen as a "peace maker".

Benjamin Netanyahu will never hand over the leadership of isreal to an Israeli Hamas apologist! Kagame won't hand over Rwanda to a Hutu radical! Biden will never hand over the country to an Alqaeda apologist! Putin won't hand over the kremlin to a Chechyan with soft spot for Chechyan separatists! You look for moderates in those areas to work with not allow yourself to be stampeded out of power by a scraggy clan of religious extremists and tribal urchins just because you "don't want blood to be spilled in your name".. Is there any amount of blood that would have been spilled in that elections that would have been bigger than the amount being spilled everyday since then?
