The Igbo are better off dropping this entitlement mentality that has become the bane of their lot in Nigeria. It has brought them no gain so far! When Ngozi was Min of Finance, Soludo was CBN Gov, George Obiozor NIIA Dg, et al they have selective amnesia. About time they flashed Prof. Nwabueze's picture leaning on Atiku as if his life and that of The Igbo depended on Abubakar Atiku. The Igbo sure deserve better than to be seen as an object of pity.

. Gen Leo Irabor from agbor Delta north is an igbo man, unless and until he says otherwise, just like Nduka Irabor of NTA and Nduka Obaegbena of This day newspapers. That name is Iroabo, or Iroabuchi in the igbo hinterlands.

You people don't get it. Ohaneze is asking for south east to be carried along. Irabor is from south south whether he is Igbo or not.

Don’t be clever by half, they are asking for more “original igbo” to be appointed as IGP, it has nothing to do with SE or SS

Where are these my SS/SE crew

Appointment should be by competence and not Nepotism or tribe consideration, after all we have more than 250 tribes in Nigeria.

What of other minority ethnic groups in the South

Hmm,Ikas are no longer Igbos just because one them has just been made CDS ! It is well noted . Igbo people are too emotional to be strategic thinkers. I'm very sure if an Omatsola or Eyitemi , an Itshekiri from Delta state was given such an appointment, the Yoruba apex cultural group ,Afenifere would have congratulated him and wish him success in his assignment. That's wisdom !

If Irabor is not an Igbo name, what about Nduka ? Is that edo name too ? The new Chief of defence staff must have read with dismay how the very people that are supposed to be his own (Igbo)are saying all sort of tantrum about his root. A man who speaks Igbo as his mother's tongue is no longer Igbo because he is not from one of the core five Igbo states ! It is well. How can people claim to be so smart but not wise at all ? Some of these funny Igbos even said here that the CDS has not claimed to be Igbo ! The question now is,has he denied being Igbo too ?

Buhari is most likely going to replace the current IGP with another fulani man from the north and that's a fact. He doesn't hide his nepotism! So you guys should not expect any Igbo person to be named the next IGP after the current one leaves office. This is because CDS Irabor Nduka is already representing your tribe. If Irabor ,as a name is what you don't like, you can start calling Nduka ! You can't say that does not have meaning in Igbo or can you ?

Anywhere there is boundary between one one ethnic group and another that speak different languages, there is bound to be a bit of ethnic confusion. Agbor where Irabor comes from is one such place, it has boundary with Edo state. Over a span of many many years, many Edo's have settled in Agbor and started calling themselves Ika. So not all Ika's are Igboids, there is a minority that are edoids. One example is Osunbor, a popular actor on Ika tv. His grandfather settled in Agbor, his father was born there same as him. But in an Interview, he said he is Ika with Edoid ancestry as he can never deny his surname Osunbor which is well known Bini name. Is it this kind of person you will say is Igbo because he is Ika?

The point Im trying to make is that not all Ika's are Igboid, there is a minority that is Edoid and that is where Irabor falls into. Your surname tells your ancestry.

You may be surprised to know that Idoko, depending on the intonation used, means something in Igbo. I know someone who has that as a traditional title from Okoh in Anambra. However, Irabor means nothing in Igbo, it is an Edo/Bini surname.

You just fooled yourself with this lengthy bullshit. Do your research well before jumping into blind conclusion. To start with, Leo Irabor's full names is Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea Irabor. He was born in Aliokpu, Agbor, Ika LGA, Delta State. Your argument holds no water because as Igbo, if my father has a good friend from Akwa-Ibom for instance and decides to name me after that person from Akwa-Ibom as a way of respecting their friendship, does that therefore mean I'm no longer Igbo because I've grown with that name and my children and grandchildren children now bear it as surname? We have many names like that across Igboland. That's even assuming Irabor is a Benin name as you claim. Irabor as a name might also be ancenstral to Benin people with same spelling and pronunciation but it doesn't mean the same thing. The people of Delta North like Agbor, Asaba, Umunede, Igbodo, Obiaruku, Ukwuani, Illah, Onicha Olona, Ibusa etc have a special way of speaking Igbo and bearing Igbo names in a mutilated form. For Instance, they pronunce Onyema as Onyeme, Onyeabuo as Onyeabo, Chinedu as Chiedu etc. So, Irabor in Agbor can't be the same thing with the one the Benin bear, the spelling and pronunciation notwithstanding. Irabor in Agbor, going by the way they speak their Igbo, could be a way of saying Iruabuo(Irabo) or Ibo obo/Ira obo(vengeance). So, Irabo or Irabor as the case may be in the Igbo speaking people of Agbor can't be the same Irabor amongst the Edo or Benin. Let's even assume it's same thing, names can be borrowed and interchanged. That doesn't make you less of the person you really are, regarding your root.

They are the ones who first started the madness by denying their Igbo identity.
You can't blame any Igbo man denying them now.
If Irabor and his Agbor people feel they are Igbos and are being denied their identity by this Igbo body, let them come out and challenge them by asserting Agbor and Ika Igbo identity and why Irabor is fit to represent Ndiigbo.

To me, this is a perfect opportunity for Ika and Agbor people to lay to rest the identity crisis they started in their land. They can do this with just a press release affirming Irabor Igbo identity. Onu Ika can undertake this task.
Chikina!
