This was made known to the public by Dr Omolayo Olubosede ( the spokesperson of the Government Doctors) while addressing a news conference at Akure The Ondo State Capital yesterday.

The Doctors had rejected unanimously the payment of half salaries for the month of November 2020 by the State Governor Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu and demanded payment of their outstanding arrears of 4 months salaries. It's almost 2 weeks now that health care services in Ondo State Government Hospitals have become inaccessible due to the strike action by the medical doctors. Solution has been elusive as no concrete plan is on ground by the Government for the industrial action to be called off. Patients are dying on a daily basis and medical tourisms out of the state to the nearest health care providers( F.M.C. Owo, OAUTHC Ile Ife) have been stressful and burdensome. Is this the dividends of democracy the people have bargained for? Why would the people be suffering this much at the expense of those elected into positions? How would a Governor in an oil producing state owe health workers and other civil servants 4 months salary arrears and still have the gut to resort to payment of half salaries. This is an height of selfishness, callousness in the midst rising costs; fuel, food stuffs, rents, school fees among others. Ondo state needs a Messiah, the land is suffering.
