We Took Oath With Kolanut To Support Ikpeazu As Governor, Says Prof Ibe by Metrix147: 3:25pm On Feb 09, 2021
A chieftain of People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Chancellor Gregory University Uturu, Prof Gregory Ibe has said Abia Charter of Equity must take its course come 2023, insisting that Abia North must produce the next governor of the state.

The don who spoke on Tuesday when he featured on OPEN PARLIAMENT in Family Love FM Umuahia monitored by ABN TV.

He said elders of Ukwa/Ngwa came to Abia North where an oath was taken with kolanut for the senatorial district to support Abia South to produce the governor in 2015 in the person of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

He accused the elders of being quiet on talks to produce the next governor of the state from Abia North.

Prof. Ibe expressed disappointment that while Igbo is agitating to be given opportunity to produce the next President, back home in Abia an agreement reached on rotation is about being flouted.

While insisting that equity and justice is the only way to ensure unity in Abia, Prof. Ibe said Abia North deserves to produce the next governor, adding that he dropped his gubernatorial ambition to support Ikpeazu.

He however expressed optimism that at the right time, rights steps will be taken to address injustice in power rotation in the state.

One day I'll write (with evidence) how ikpuazu swore and oath in India to allow his sponsor Theodore orji loot the state coffers at will if he (ikpuazu) was made governor..... you wonder why abia state is the least developing state in the east?

Oh, he's now a professor. He is also the owner of Gregory University.

To the topic-
Abia is one of the States in Southeast that have been successful with the zoning principles of governors.
Whether those elected as governors have been successful is a topic for another day.

Orji Uzo Kalu- Abia North- 8years
T. Orji- Abia Central - 8years
Ikpeazu- Abia South- 8years

In 2023, the cycle would either continue or disorganized.
Having noted this, it was quite greedy for the Abia North to contest in 2019(if they truly wanted to respect the zoning principle).
There was a time one Uche Ogah , from Abia North, was declared the winner of the 2019 election. The same region that talk about zoning but fail to respect it. Had it been Ogah remained as governor, it would be denying the Abia South their complete 8 year term.
It seems he was compensated with a ministerial post.

My take for Abians is that 2023 is a new cycle. Vote credible leaders that will deliver you from the sufferings of today.
This new cycle can start from any zone- North, Central or South (preferably not). The choice is yours.

This Ike Ibe is possibly eyeing that seat. He can be worse. Shine your eyes Abians.
Any information on the management of his university, Gregory University?
How are his staff fairing, salary etc.?
