A PDP Gubernatorial Aspirant Amb Ike Oligbo has described the state of Anambra healthcare system as substandard and deserving of urgent intervention.

Ike Oligbo who decried the lack of equipment or insufficient equipments in most health facilities ascribed the increasing cases of funerals in the state to poor and inadequate healthcare facilities.

According to the philanthropist who has sponsored foreign healthcare missions to the state in several occasions, quality healthcare services is critical to health and longevity, noting that the need for improved medical services cannot be overemphasized.

Ike Oligbo stated that it is a crime against humanity for government to overlook such a delicate sector which should ordinarily be on top of the administrative scale of preference.

The PDP frontline aspirant for the forthcoming gubernatorial election emphasized the need for total overhauling of public healthcare facilities especially, to create room for modern health equipments and improved training of frontline health workers.

Ike Oligbo said that besides provision of modern health facilities, his administration intends to embark on training of community health workers, midwives, nurses, pharmacists and doctors who serve in community clinics near people in need.

While answering questions on why he consider the health sector as a priority, Ike Oligbo explained that his previous and ongoing tour of local government areas in the state enabled him to assess some of these public health institutions wherein he discovered the ugly decay of facilities and unfortunate neglect by the government whose priority should be to protect human life.

Speaking further, he pointed out the need for government to also provide incentives for health workers and even caregivers to encourage them in their effort to render selfless services and take extra care of unhealthy adults and children. This he said that his administration will surely work out, even if it means implementing the idea in phases for best impacts.

In conclusion, Ike Oligbo urged Anambrarians to be cautious about mixing with people, especially crowded places, this he said will go a long way to containing the second wave of COVID-19 in the state. He also called for judicious use of public investment and routine observation of COVID-19 protocols.
