Re: Vanguard Presents Election Results At A Glance As Announced By Inec by profLaw(m): 12:29am On Apr 11, 2011
statement issued by aides of former information minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), claimed that she leading in the Ananmbra Central senatorial district elections.

Accordingly, collated results as at 7:30 this morning were given as follows:

Anaocha LGA: APGA 22,481; ACN 4,561; Accord 1,282; Awka North LGA: APGA 4,245, ACN 1,787, Accord 3,924; Awka South LGA: APGA 12,510, ACN 11,973, Accord 3,812.

The results shows that Akunyili is defeating her formidable rival Dr. Chris Ngige of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the race.

However, oppsition party sources told SaharaReporters that Governor Peter Obi and his cohorts had apparently rigged the results of the elections in Anaocha LGA. Several sources in Anambra disclosed that the results from Aniocha Local Government Area were not revealed until early this morning.

“There’s an obvious delay of results from Aniocha, the local government of Governor Peter Obi and Dr. Dora Akunyili,” said a source, adding that the plan appeared to be to announce inflated number of votes for the APGA senatorial candidate once it emerges that Mr. Obi’s candidate has lost the majority of votes as collated from other LGAs.

“It’s past 1 a.m. here and yet the results from Aniocha remain a secret,” said an observer.

Opposition sources in Anambra also indicated that INEC officials moved some polling stations without prior notice and also supplied ballot result sheets late to areas where APGA candidates were deemed unpopular. Other problems in Anambra include shortage of ballot papers as well as unusually high incidence of voters arriving at designated polling booths to find that their names were missing from the registers.

“The most amazing thing is that some voters who saw their names last week, when the elections were cancelled, arrived today only to be told that their names were not on the register,” said one of the opposition sources in the state.

I dont want ACN in my state at all . . . . . Akunyili of APGA should represent my district in the senate.
