I hope all sides are learning something in this struggle?
1. We are better off together as a country.
2. Farmers are kings
3. Our leaders are leading us astray.
4. Farming business is a serious business that must not be left to a certain region.
5. All these brouhaha is a great example of president Buhari failure.

but the Neighboring countries don't have the markets for these goods na..

in fact, most of their agricultural produce comes to Southern Nigeria..

Among the 3 neighbouring countries (Niger, Benin & Cameroon), Southern Nigeria (Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Onitsha etc) has more population and more economic purchasing power than even Niger, Benin & Cameroon combined not to talk abt their capitals only.

The most important thing to establish here is mutual respect. Core northerners generally exhibit condescending attitude towards SW people. Majority belief SW people are weaklings that they can do whatever they like to. That impression must be corrected moving forward.

Nigeria toying with food security. The effect of this will persist for years to come because farmers presently losing their investments will roll back production and some wille exit the business entirely.

All because we cannot sit down and negotiate out challenges and we donot have umpires in government that are interested in the unity of this country

As far as the traders are concerned, their lives are more important than any losses they might make.

What is the point of traveling to the south to make profit only to seen as soft targets be attacked and burnt alive by murderous southern savages afraid of confronting killer herdsmen?

Only a trader that is alive can enjoy his profit. Arewa will enjoy the cheap prices while they last.
Must they sell to the South?
Moreover they used their trucks to bring Fulani herdsmen to d South so they will suffer for it on d other hand we r confronting both Hausa's nd Fulani's, anyone they born well out of them should graze on our farms nd to make it more brutal he shld hold a gun. You will come back here to blame us for killing them.

To people that did what they did in Shasa, the rage flew because of the activities of the coward Fulani herders.

The North is making a grave mistake with this, History would see this as "In 2021, during the great covid pandemic, Northern Nigeria blocked its borders against the south to starve them of food thereby causing serious inflation in a recessive economy in southern Nigeria, under the Northern presidency"

This is the same spirit that brought about the "Never again" mantra of the Chinese Agricultural revolution in 1980.

If the south eventually finds an alternative within and with neighbouring countries, it would be an effect that would last a life time.

Why are you worried? You missed the attacks and vilification of northerners in the same 2021 that caused them to stop foods coming to the south in protest? You think it was their first choice? This is how you people try to rewrite history it’s 2021 we too can write English.

Shebi you don’t need their food. Go and suck oil from Niger Delta.

Oooh! Life is sacrosanct, and your proscribed terrorist brothers have been busy killing Southern farmers, please don't sell to us. I once said it,the buyer is the king, we can import everything. After all Thailand rice is polished and cheaper than Northern Stone rice.

Don't compare nigerians and Chinese, Nigerians are more daft with even more stupid leaders. It is very wrong for the south to depend on northern food. What if there is a war, then the south will be at a military disadvantage. Moreover the north reaps the economic benefits of agriculture while the southerners are looking for a job.The south needs to wake up.

we can't watch the yorubas slap us and expect us to beg..

meanwhile, food is now getting cheaper in the north by the day which is good news for us..

Divert, Which country can you compete with?
Thailand rice is cheaper and better... While yours is costlier and stony.

Beef... You aren't in top 20 cow nations.
Beans- Niger sells cheaper.
Onions and Tomatoes... Cameroon and Cotonue.

Please enjoy your cheap too as it should be. I'm happy that this is happening at this time. Let each region become independent in food production. The south can also block their pipelines and close their oil wells. Let every region control their resources. That's what we've been asking for

God bless the north for this wise decision. Restructuring is here already

Let me explain something to my brothers

100 naira = 142 Central African CFA cameroon

100 naira = 132 West African CFA Niger

Now, these two countries currency is lower than ours and for that, to meet up with market competition Nigerian traders will be forced to sell 100 naira worth tomatoes for 60 naira or less so as to get buyers.

At the end, most of our farm products of which was sponsored by billions of oil money by Fed government will be wasted . Isn't that foolishness?

You can say that again!

However, let the Southerners learn and work right.
Self-sufficiency in all ramifications is the way to go!
