Nnamani Crashes, As Chime, Saraki Hold Sway In Enugu, Kwara by Nobody: 4:05am On Apr 12, 2011
FORMER Governor of Enugu State and the sitting senator for Enugu East Senatorial District, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, has lost his re-election bid to a House of Representative member, Prince Gilbert Nnaji.

According to the results announced by the Returning officer, Okolie Chukwuma, Nnaji, the Peoples DemocraticParty (PDP) candidate, polled 67,300 votes to beat others, including Nnamani of the People for Democratic Change (PDC) who secured 32005 votes, while Ben Nwoye had 3,261 votes, APGA’s Silk Ugwuogbu 8,175, Labour Party’s David Ngene 4,439, ANPP’sOzo Ugwu 525 votes and Ugwu Ujam of CPC 730 ballots.

In Enugu North, Senator Ayogu Eze of the PDP emerged victorious.

According to the Returning Officer, Benjamin Okpukpara, Eze polled 86,220 votes to beat his closest rival, Chief Mike Ajogwu (SAN) who got 27,192 votes. PDC’s Victor Amoha scored 25,731 votes, ACN’s J.O.J Okoloagu had 3099 votes and APGA 6044 votes.

PDP has also won the House of Representatives seats for Enugu South and North and Nsukka/Igboeze. Its candidate Offor Chukwuegbo, according to the Returning Officer, Alice Okorie, secured 24909 votes to beat PDC’s Osita Tagbo Nnamani who garnered 9277 votes for Enugu North and South federal constituency. ACN’s Charles Ayalogu got 2244 votes, APGA Oko Gabriel 1579 votes and Nnamdi Friday of CPC 179 votes.

For Nsukka/Igboeze federal constituency, incumbent Pat Asadu of the PDP retained his position polling 28,132 votes to beat others, including Labour Party’s Peter Okonkwo with 13,733 votes and PDC’s Amoke Chukwunwike’s 11,055 votes.

The results for Enugu West Senatorial Zone where Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu ran are still being awaited. This includes five other federal constituencies in the state.

In Kwara State, Governor Bukola Saraki maintained his hold on the PDP ensuring that his party win another senatorial seat, having clinched that of Kwara Central.

In kwara North senatorial race, the former governor of the state, Alhaji Muhammed Shaba Lafiagi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won the polls. Alhajis Ahman Patigi and Alhaji Zakari Muhammed both of PDP also won their House of Representatives elections.

Lafiagi defeated the CPC senatorial candidate, Alhaji Yunusa Yahaya, and the candidate of ACPN, Alhaji Abdullahi Yaman.

For Kwara South Senatorial District, Senator Simeon Ajibola of the PDP won by defeating his rival, Architect Lola Ashiru of the ACPN and Mr. Anu Ibiwoye of the ACN.

Dr. Rafiu Ibrahim of the PDP) who currently represents Ifelodun/Offa and Oyun Federal Constituency won the ticket.

Supporters of Governor Saraki on Sunday trooped to major streets in the ancient town celebrating the victory of the outgoing governor at the senatorial polls.
