I was walking around my compound yesterday, and I saw a fish jumped out of the marsh to a drier side of the compound. It was struggling to swim back into the marsh, but I caught it with a basket.

It's called Owhoro in Urhobo. A delicacy in the traditional dishes of the Urhobos, served either dried or fresh.

Did you grow up in Surulere? I used to catch them too, back in the 80s. Fun times.

Sure they're good old fun times.
I stayed in a remote town in Lagos back then in the 1990s.
