Governors of the South East geo-political zone, on Sunday, rose from a closed-door meeting with the leadership of religious, political and traditional institutions in the zone, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Joint Security Committee, at the Government House, Enugu, reiterating the adoption of EBUBEAGU as the common Joint Security outfit with its Regional Headquarters in Enugu.

In a Communiqué read by Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum (SEGF) and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi, the leaders stated that “EBUBEAGU will work with the Police and other security agencies in her operations to protect lives and property in South East”.

The meeting agreed on the structure and operational modalities of EBUBEAGU and to set up an Advisory Board for the security outfit.

It directed the Hon. Attorney Generals and Commissioners for Justice of the South East States to work with the Joint Security Committee to come up with the amendment of the existing State Laws to reflect the new EBUBEAGU outfit.

On the issues of restructuring, State Police and #EndSARS, the SEGF Chairman disclosed that “the meeting is in support of restructuring, the setting up of State Police and other national issues as discussed in the last NEC meeting”, adding that the “South East Governors agreed on the implementation of various ENDSARS Youth Empowerment Programmes in the South East States as soon as possible”.

The South East leaders also reiterated their commitment to state laws banning open grazing in the zone, and urged the security agencies and the local vigilantes to enforce the ban in all the states of the region.

The meeting also directed Ohaneze Ndigbo President to immediately form a South East Peace and Reconciliation Committee to engage the people of the zone “for the peace and security of our people and her visitors”, as well as a Strategy and Welfare Committee “to engage and protect our people, especially those who are being unfairly treated”.

“These Committees must become functional within the next 10 (ten) days from date”, the Communiqué stressed.

Throwing their weight behind the Communiqué, leaders of the religious institution in the South East, said that they stand in solidarity with the governors and support EBUBEAGU Security outfit.

Speaking, the Chairman of CAN in the South East, Bishop Godwin Okafor, pointed out that they will partner Ohaneze Ndigbo to ensure that there is peace in the zone, stressing: “We believe in peace; we preach peace and reconciliation and we will do our best to reconcile our people who have been offended to move Alaigbo forward”.

Host Governor Ifeanyi #Ugwuanyi of #Enugu State, his Abia State counterpart, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Hon. Uchechukwu Ogah, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Amb. George Obiozor, the Obi of Onitsha, HRM Igwe Alfred Achebe (left), Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma, Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South East, Bishop Goddy Okafor, were among the dignitaries who attended the meeting.

Let me explain brother! They will just come together murmur and arrange themself like sardines. I wonder what religious group got to interfere with political office holders. If our priest and pastors leave place of worship that is their call and visit a political office are they preaching for them at all? Like repent Jesus is coming back Again? I think that is what they should preach when in such meeting. Leave security matters for them as na their duty to employ good governance. That’s why Gumi will seat with Bandits and most Rev. can’t sit with ESN

Good for them....

We have got Amotekun in Southwest
Hisbah in Northern part...
So to have EBUBEAGU in The Eastern part is not a crime at all.

My problem is that the formation of this group hope is not to spite the ESN group. lipsrsealed

A house divided against itself would not stand wink.

Peace!

Okay...

Precedence has really left a bad mark on SE governors. Nobody believes them for anything anymore. Silence over troubling matters for a long time contributing the most.

Mayetti allah won’t like this at all

They will start foaming in the mouth now that it’s a plan to intimidate their herders.

Most easterners that will be shortlisted into the joint security outfit will still carry their Biafra ideology

What's meaning of regional security outfit that will work with police?

I pity hungry youths that will join hand with Fulani police in the name of ebube agu.

They held a regional meeting without youths, they didn't make it open for youths to speak their mind, but will want the same youth to be the pillars of the ebube atulu

Notice that they avoided any comments that castigated ESN, unlike in the past and Hope Uzodinma was advised to stay away from the meeting to douse tension and sent his Deputy Prof Placid Njoku, they are getting their brains reset

Meanwhile, Nigeria Army and Police provided Ikonso with 7 Abobakus, the Obas in Yorubaland normally go with 1 Abobaku wink
