Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Chairman of South West Agenda (SWA­GA), a political group championing the presidential ambition of former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 general election has denied rumours that the group has been dis­banded.

There were reports that Tinubu had told the group, which has been in the forefront of Yoruba unity ahead of the 2023 presidential elec­tion to tone down their activ­ities for now.

However, responding to enquiries by Daily Indepen­dent, Adeyeye, a former Min­ister of Works, on Wednes­day described the report as nonsense, saying there was no way SWAGA could be dis­banded.

“How can SWAGA be disbanded? It’s nonsense for anyone to say that. Disregard it,” he said.

He had earlier said the group did not get the approv­al of Tinubu to begin presi­dential campaign for him.

He said the group, which comprised former lawmak­ers and political associates of Tinubu, began the campaign to get its presence in all poll­ing units across the country.

“The National Leader of the ruling APC, Asiwaju Tinubu, has not informed any member of the group that he has interest in the election.

“We opted for Tinubu to present the best candidate for the election in the South. We want all of Yoruba to rally round him in order to have a more viable front to clinch the Presidency,” he stated.
