Vaccine Patronage: Nigeria Does Not Discriminate Against Any Nation - APC Refutes Allegation

The attention of APC Mandate Defenders has been drawn to an article written by an agent provocateur alleging that the Nigerian Government is discriminating against some countries in it's Covid-19 Vaccine patronage.

Denying the claim in a statement released to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja by the group's national publicity secretary, Mr. Ifeanyi Emeka, the group said such allegation is unfounded as Nigeria remains committed to implementing every multilateral and bilateral agreement it has with any nation or the international community.

Noting that Nigeria's decision on Covid-19 Vaccine is purely based on so many factors which include approval by both the World Health Orgaisation (WHO) and the country's National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Other factors include availability of relevant infrastructures like cold chain, refrigeration capacity and transportability of vaccines across the country without loosing it's potency among others.

For Instance, the AstraZeneca Vaccine can be stored, transported and handled at the normal refrigeration condition of two to eight degree celsius for at least six months and can be administered within existing healthcare infrastructures and settings in Nigeria, whereas others require refrigeration of -18 degree Celsius to -70 degree Celsius among others.

What this mean is that Nigeria will have to buy new refrigeration and build new infrastructures that will gulp billions of dollars to fix across the federation which does not make any economic sense in a developing country that still have other needs to meet.

Therefore, government decided to leaverage on it's strength on Vaccine choice by going for the one that offers the same value and have the same potency and compatibility with our existing healthcare infrastrustures.

Hence, the decision of the APC controlled Federal Government is purely based on our national interest which is reflective in our foreign policy.

Again, as member of the Non Allied Movement, an organization that believes that developing countries should not be officially aligned with or against any major power bloc or group of countries, but should try to find the best way to help their people, Nigeria's response is in the best interest of all Nigerians and inline with the resolution of last year's online Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Contact Group Meeting in response to COVID-19 Pandemic with the theme “United Against COVID-19."

Nonetheless, we understand that the author of the article is a Director of China Studies in Nigeria and as a result, he is bound to promote the political and business interest of his employer and that of the Kremlins but we make bold to remind him that Nigeria does not discriminate against any nation but remains open to all countries in the pursuit of better deals for it's citizenry.

Categorically, we wish to state that Nigeria is neither West nor East nor South nor North nor Black nor White but remains committed to every effort or global coalition that will destroy Coronavirus and end it's scourge from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.

As history books have shown that great alliances were not built in times of peace, comfort and convenience but in moments of challenges and difficulties.

Therefore, we thank the nations that have supported us in the fight against Covid-19 even as we also encourage those who are yet to support us to do so because no one is safe until everyone is vaccinated.

Together, we shall flatten Covid-19 curve!

Signed:

Mr. Ifeanyi Emeka,
National Publicity Secretary,
APC Mandate Defenders

Currently, I don't think there is any nation that has not made the availability of cold chain equipments a priority for transportation and preservation of the Covid-19 Vaccine. Reason why we have https://gricd.com/ that also gives an extra real-time monitoring of the vaccine.
