The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has formally rejected the result of the recent presidential election, accusing the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, of not telling Nigerians the whole truth about the poll.
It urged the people to remain calm, but vowed to pursue all legal and constitutional means to reverse what it called the injustice done to the electoral process.

In a press statement by the Buhari/Bakare Presidential Campaign Organisation entitled “Why we reject the result of the presidential election” and addressed by the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Pastor Tunde Bakare, the CPC said the result of the election was a subversion of the popular will of the electorate.

Pastor Bakare totally rejected results from the South East and South South zone of the country and urged INEC to, as a matter of urgency, take custody of all election materials and make the ballot papers in support of the votes cast in the two zones available for a representative sample of thumb prints to be matched with the biometric voters register by forensic experts.
“The façade at the polling units must be unmasked for this election to be seen as the sham that it truly was. The integrity of elections is crucial for the survival of our nascent democracy, as no legitimate government can be founded on a stolen mandate.

“We consider the subversion of the popular will to be the worst form of corruption that can befall any nation,” he said and urged INEC to, “As a matter of utmost urgency to take custody of all election materials and make the ballot papers in support of the votes cast in the South South and South East zones available for a representative sample of the thumb prints to be matched with the biometric based voters register by forensic experts”.

He added: “The same examination can be conducted in the North West and North East zones if only for the sake of good order. A sample of the result sheets at the ward and local government collation centres should also be examined by independent third party accountants. “If the ballot papers and/or figures were found to have been substantially manipulated, the commission should be bold enough to reverse its position on the declared result if only in the interest of peace and greater public good.

“Prosecute to the full extent of the law all those found to have played a role in once again bringing the credibility of the commission into disrepute.” Pastor Bakare said the INEC chairman did not tell the truth when he asserted that it was the commission’s staff who discovered the deflation of the votes of the CPC in Kano and Katsina.

“We appeal for calm from Nigerians while the CPC would pursue all legal and constitutional means to reverse the injustice done to the electoral process and reclaim our stolen mandate.

My brother u ve said nothing to back up the reason for accussing and abusing the pastor. Officilas says about 250 have being killed and more than 14,000 displaced. How is bakare directly involved? Hes not as desperate like buhari nah. Lets face it. Or has he duped anyone u know? has he carried out demonic act? why do u call u a demon?

Bakare can still be trusted more than many other so called imam and pastors. I wouldn't mind if u can give me direct evidence to justify ur accussations and the name calling of Bakare.

Pastor Bakare has integrity more than many World known pastors/imams put together. He would never have sanctioned violence. The only 'but' in is CV is his acceptance to run as the VP candidate with Buhari thereby going against his own vision when he said neither Babagida, Atiku, Obj and Buhari were part of the new Nigeria.

I'm sure you folks doesn't have short memories of events in this country in the last one year or thereabout.

Bakare was a member of the SNG that ensured Gej was installed as the Acting president when Turai Yar adua was leading this country in disguise from Saudi Arabia. They also led a campaign of one man one vote which made Gej offered the group $50,000 for transport back to Lagos from ABJ.

when Yar adua returned from saudi The chief Imam of Abuja Mosque went to visit Yar adua along with other islamic clerics and said Yar adua was well after collecting $$$$$ from Turai.

Some Top rated Pastors like Bishop Oyedepo, CAN president etc also went to visit Yar adua After collecting $$$$$. Pastor bakare was consulted but refused to be an accomplice telling the host that he wouldn't call black white on Yar adua and therefore opted out of the visit.

He has never involved himself in any dirty dealings with any one any where in Nigeria.

I repeat the only but in his CV is joining active politics which im sure came out of his passion for a better Nigeria.

He wouldn't have sanctioned violence as a man of God. The inferno is just an accident and not nemesis

Based on what I know about this elections, and what I have now come to light, I cannot honestly say if GEJ would have won on the 1st ballot. Note here, GEJ could possibly have won at the end of the day, but he definitely would not have won on the 1st ballot.

One assumption that has been made about the presidential election in the North is that CPC was rigging. Allow me to ask one very salient question: Are we saying that CPC would have the ability to rig an election in a PDP controlled state? Or that the PDP Governor of a state would deploy the state resources to rig for the opposition party?

CPC might have supporters in the North but it definitely does not have the machinery to rig elections in the North. The party with the machinery to rig in the North is PDP and they clearly have used it very well and subtly. They need not rig the elections to win it for PDP, they simply ensured that GEJ had the required 25% of the votes in their respective states. That is the rigging that PDP did in the North.

For the SS and SE, it was simply ballot result stuffing. Yes the turnout was massive, but it was no way as near the 90% being recorded by the results sheet. Many of those votes were allocations or multiple voting/ballot stuffing.

To me, if we because we wanted GEJ to win accept this fraud, remember, in 4 years time, PDP would still use the same machinery to rig. We cried foul in 2003 but as we wanted OBJ we said continue, we saw a worldwide acknowledged rigging in 2007, but because we wanted peace, we accepted it. Now in 2011, the same PDP is rigging and because our man is declared the winner, we want all to shut up. Hmmm, 2015 is not too far away and the same party would be waiting.

Most sensible people know that the result from the South South and South East was illegally inflated in favour of the PDP. Most intelligent people know that there's no way in hell that 84% of registered voters in imo State could have turned up to vote. Frankly, even a total turnout of 60% is not believable.
While I still think GEJ would have won, it doesn't mean we have to turn a blind eye to rigging.
Jega's system is a great improvement over the previous one, but it isn't rig-proof.

Where did you get the '500' figure from? And why are you trolls so desperate to convince everyone that the statement 'wild wild north' from a PASTOR of all people was capable of sending hundreds of illiterate youths on a killing spree?
Are you not aware of the threatening text messages that had started making the rounds just after GEJ defeated Atiku in the primaries. Was that Buhari and bakare at work too?

If your stated goal is to tackle people at the root cause of the deaths of innocent people, why have you been staunch in your support of GEJ, the man who had command of the entire army when JTF troops massacred 150 villages in Ayakoromo village last year?
