So much noise about Anambra Airport.
What we need is a functional seaport in Anambra.

Anambra is the commercial hub of the East and filled with business men and importers.

The effect will be felt even in North central like Kogi, Benue and South south too like Delta.

It will be more beneficial to the Eastern economy and development as it will drastically reduce the cost of importation thereby reducing the cost of goods.

It will also create jobs for the people.

How can only Tincan- Apapa be the only functional seaport in a country that depends almost solely on imported items with over 200m population?

Apapa is congested and this is part of what is making Lagos a hell because of influx of people in the state.

This is long overdue.

Many people always say igbos have business in Lagos, lets be honest Nigerian government never wants the best for the igbos, the government are doing it wrong, Calabar is the first sea port used for slave trade in Nigeria but now no sea port is functioning in Nigeria than Lagos sea port, Lagos should not be the only city in Nigeria with major sea port, we have some cities in South South that connects to the ocean, the government should build major sea port in those cities and even if it's one sea port in South East so that the igbos can do business in there land..

For a state that's mostly filled with importers.

Onne is practically not convenient.

They make you pay more for certain things thus forcing you to use Lagos.

You guys just sit and imagine things. Over 10,000 containers are imported weekly there. Major companies in the South east import through Onne

Oga I am an importer.

If Onne was convenient, why would an Onitsha business man clear in tin can then convey to Onitsha spending millions?

@ Op it seems you guys never get tired of opening threads that keep the youths arguing aimlessly? Cargo airport is best for now, while waiting for federal government to dredge the river Niger.

I don't even know how to classify your line of thought as it's obviously devoid of reality and reason.

The cargo airport in Anambra I'm sure you're aware was solely financed and built by the state government. Building a seaport in Onitsha financially is way beyond what the state government can handle, as it also entails dredging some parts that river.

Why not appreciate what the governor has done with the cargo airport, while persuading the federal government to build a port in Onitsha to help ease difficulty currently being faced by eastern importers.

Is there anything wrong in having both the port and the cargo airport in that state

If we have both is it a crime? One thing at a time. Next is a sea port or train stations. Every means of transportation should be built if we are determined.

But the federal govt few months ago have come out to say that the onne port in rivers and the calabar port are now functioning in full capacity or have they stopped operations in those ports?

I am sure many don't know what cargo flight is. What water body will you use for the seaport, river Niger?

With a cargo airport in Anambra, lagos port can be made led busy. Goods will arrive faster, though at an extra cost. But risk of loss will be reduced too.

Anambra needs the airport biko. Nke anyi by nke anyi

You sound like one suffering from DK effect.

Did I say there is anything wrong with the airport?

As if I don't know that shipping and the likes are in the exclusive list of the constitution.

Did I discuss how it will be done?

This is something that even the whole southern Governors should work on sef.
