1) For many years, a freedom fighter named Nnamdi Kanu was the voice of the Igbo masses, a man that fearlessly challenged the status quo. While Igbos knew most of his naysayers were acting out of jealousy, we all saw this in 3d when the same folks that had been bashing him because they had noone as bold in their lands, suddenly turned around and uplifted a reluctant former tout as a freedom fighter to stand in their place.

2) From over a decade ago, Igbos had been shouting that Fulani herdsmen, Ruga, cattle herding etc, etc was just a ploy to take over people's ancestral land.
Naysayers and Nairaland bots of certain ethnicities tagged as Igbos being tribalistic and sore losers. Now these same people are shouting that herdsmen are taking over their lands to no avail.

2)Several years ago, Ipob, the greatest freedom movement in the world grew rapidly as Igbos wanted to split because the arrangements of Nigeria was unworkable. Nigerians shouted Kill them all! Kill them All! and cheered when the army was brutalising and killing hundreds of peaceful civilians in one day. They delighted in their deaths chanting that Nigeria was indivisible.
Now that one Nigeria has really started to pepper them, the same folks that were mocking them are now trying to float their own countries.

4) Ipob, after shouting that the herdsmen were a poorly concealed terrorist group that were being sheltered and given sophisticated weapons by the government; decided to berth a sophisticated and well-armed security outfit out of self-defence .
Certain Nigerians were shouting that's Illegal! An act of war! They were saying that Igbos should only rely on the compromised government's security detail.

Now, after several more rounds of brutal massacres, several rounds of folks being chased in Benin republic, and several breaking news reports of members of a leopard-themed government security group being put into intensive care, the same Nigerians are now threatening of initiating their own self-defense outfits.

5) Igbos have being saying for years that the government of Nigeria had been taking over Fulanis, and anybody attempting to break free from their stranglehold was painting themselves a target to the corrupt hegemony.

We saw this in the south-east where the rapid increase of pro-biafra sentiments invited Military invasion and brutality in Igboland. Of course, Nigerians, many bereft of understanding saw that as a moment to jubilate.

However, now that some Nigerians are attempting to break free like Igbos did, as we saw in the Lekki protest and Yoruba nation rally; they come to realise it's not that easy. As they quickly find that peaceful protestors are immediately a target for brutality and live bullets from the Nigerian forces.

Honestly what Igbos are waiting for now is the official declaration of Biafra.

By then, the folks that keep chanting that Biafra is an online country that will never work would be either begging Biafra to save them from Al-Shabaab that is already encamped around strategic areas across the country or furiously applying for visas.
