LAGOS – Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere on Thursday berated President Muhammadu Buhari over his threat to clamp down on individuals perpetrating violence in the southeast region of the country, especially members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo said it is hypocritical of the President to declare that he will deal ruthlessly with the people of the South East while negotiating with and pampering bandits and Fulani herdsmen.

“I have said it before and I will continue to say it, Buhari has no control over the nation’s security architecture anymore and that is why he is now negotiating with bandits.”

“The bandits are so confident that they are even laying down conditions for surrender”.

“Today they will kidnap and the government will pay them ransom; tomorrow they will kidnap again to get more money. Does that speak well of a so-called responsible government?”

“Buhari hasn’t got the power or nerve to control them. He only has the nerve to suppress the people he is supposed to protect”.

“He is threatening to show IPOB and the people of South East pepper but he can’t show pepper to bandits and killer herdsmen who are troubling the people”.

How I wish Buhari will concentrate in eliminating the bandits in the north and leave the so called IPOB to kill themselves beacuse is like they are on the mission to destroy the region both socially and economically.
