Free Movement of Basotho, a social movement of Basotho based in South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho, wants Lesotho to be incorporated into South Africa.

The Movement has called for a referendum in Lesotho to allow Basotho to vote if they want Lesotho to remain a sovereign state, or be incorporated as the 10th province into South Africa.

It was formed in 2009 with the aim to try and advocate for the rights of Basotho people in South Africa.

Some of the reasons cited are political instability and the fact that Lesotho is heavily reliant on South Africa in terms of economic growth.

It is now advocating for the postponement of the general elections set to take place in 2022, in Lesotho.

The Lesotho High Commission in Pretoria is yet to comment.

Muguh, read the above excerpt. Lesotho can't join South Africa without going through a referendum and neither will South Africa accept Lesotho to join them without conducting a referendum first. These are people that think like humans, unlike you animals in the contraption called nigeria.

Hmmm. Lesotho is actually landlocked without access to the sea and they have a small land mass. Thank God for the wisdom of our founding fathers who are Nigerian patriots of Igbo extraction who signed up to Nigeria. They are much wiser than those founding fathers of the Lesotho people. If Britain did not colonize or amalgamate north and south , do you think biafra , yoruba and hausa etc would be in the same country?

Personally I don't have a problem with this but I wonder if those Lesotho kings enjoying power without outside interference are in agreement with this movement.

Lesotho is crazy, they must just come back to SA, we need that water and the snow ski resorts .

The royal family will definitely get a pay cut if they joined SA. But the Zulu King chows a lot of the KZN budget by himself so I guess Letsie can negotiate something similar.

The king will be safe hence he is supporting the move however the politians will love out the most cause now they will be up against the ANC. Even if the prime Minister wins the provincial elections he will have less access to the fiscus budget to loot since he will be downgraded to a minister. Worst case scenario is when their swallowed by free state ANC will win. Unless their majority party joins with ANC so they can loot together.

Wow, the king supports this? He looks cool though - young and modern.

Lesotho ruling party seems really dodgy, like how many coups have there been over there? And u just ask yourself what it is they are fighting for coz the country doesn't have much going for it. Not shading them, I'm part Sotho, so just telling it like it is. King Letsie has to become tougher with those politicians.

Yeah, they'll get along like a house on fire with the ANC (all ruling parties/struggle movements in Southern Africa stand together).
