about Rochas alleged withdrawal from the race
Re: Imo State Supplementary Election Results And Proceedings by Ngwakwe: 12:15pm On May 06, 2011
Jega is serious with this election as all eyes is on Imo State.

Arrests have been made at Orji Owerri North as Ohakim boys are chasing out non natives from polling boots.

Ohakim also instructed the Head teacher to lockup the school and refuse assess to desks and sitting materials.

Re: Imo State Supplementary Election Results And Proceedings by Ngwakwe: 12:29pm On May 06, 2011
After major and minor hitches, the accreditation of legible voters has commenced in full gear.

The Polling officers from Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers stood their ground and resisted the temptation of first leaving for their respective boots and for the result sheets to be forwarded latter mostly because of fear of being beating as no excuse will suffice to the angry electorates in the polling units

The air of the Governorship supplementary election in Mbaitoli LGA smells like pdp has hijacked the election. Reliable information reaching us said that the election is going on in houses of top pdp members in the local government. As am typing- 12:24pm, my boot has not recieved any election material
Re: Imo State Supplementary Election Results And Proceedings by Ngwakwe: 12:41pm On May 06, 2011
Bros if you smell something as hijacking of ballot papers please involve the Police or Election Observers.

Resident Electoral Commissioner has extended accreditation time. He has also demanded the cancellation of any hijacked boot.

Make sure your reports are confirmed before involving Police as unconfirmed report will be futile to our struggle

All I can deduce from what is going on in Mbaitolu LGA is that PDP want to do all within their strength to Frustrate the voters as to reduce the margin with which the opposition will be winning as to help them (PDP) upturn it where possible using figures they will obtain by rigging from other LGA
Re: Imo State Supplementary Election Results And Proceedings by leonaidas(m): 1:50pm On May 06, 2011
The materials for today's elections are customized, i.e. The one for ''local government A'' is different from ''B''. I don't see how it can be rigged, but trust PDP, i can't put anything past them. *fingers crossed*

VOTING MATERIALS HAS BEEN HIJACKED IN WARDS 4, 9 AND 11 IN NGOR OKPALLA LGA.

IMO STATE COMMISSIONER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT HAS JUST SHARED 600,000 NAIRA TO VOTERS IN EACH OF THE BOOTHSIN AMULU WARD IN MBAITOLI LGA TO VOTE FOR PDP. THIS IS AGAINST THE ELECTORAL ACT.

ALL THE BALLOT BOXES IN THE POLLING BOOTHS IN UMUAHIAGU WARD IN NGOR OKPALA LGA HAVE BEEN ALL CARRIED AWAY. SIR, INEC SHOULD DO SOMETHING AND CANCEL NGOR OKPALA ELECTION NOW OR WE START GOING TO TV AND RADIO.

# In spite of police deployment of 10, 000 men to the election, there was no single police or security official at Polling Unit 008, Orodo Ward A, which is adjacent to an INEC office in Mbaitolu.

# Impressive voter turnouts in the Imo State supplementary election but many of the voters are disappointed by the late commencement of the exercise in some areas.

# The Nigeria Army apprehended over 120 suspected political thugs in Mbaitoli and Ngor/Okpala LGA's between 5:20am and 6:30am today. Sagir Musa, a lieutenant colonel and assistant public relations unit of 81 divisions confirmed the arrests.

The thugs were in buses from Onitsha and neighbouring states. Preliminary findings indicate that they had been documented and handed over to the Imo State police command.

As at 11.30am, accreditation was yet to commence in Oguta and Mbaitoli Council areas. It was, however, not certain why the election processes had not commenced.

Let me see anybody praise Jega again after this incompetent display.
The whole resources of INEC devoted to only 4 LGAs in Imo and yet there are rampant cases of electoral materials failing to appear until late in the day! There are already numerous reports of electoral fraud and stolen ballots.

Jega is somewhat better than Iwu but not by as much as we all thought before.

See the evil (Solo) that we all should fight. With truth and credibility we will be able to defeat every propagander and lies from a Crook who can't deferentiate between public asset and private or personal property.

See what our former Governor Ohakim is doing with our state website. It's a pity that he is not worthy to have ever been called a governor.

Reports from various polling booths in the four LGAs (Ngor Okpalla, Mbaitoli, Ohaji – Egbema and Oguta) and one ward (Orji in Owerri North LGA) in Imo State, where the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) is conducting “Supplementary Elections” today,

Twenty minutes later, a defiant crowd of women protesters, daring soldiers marched to the INEC office in Oguta calling for the cancellation of the election.

12: 00 PM-At Umuagwo village in Ohaji-Egbema local government area, the traditional ruler sent out the town crier threatening those not voting for Ikedi Ohakim, the PDP candidate not to venture out of their houses.

-Election materials arrives to some parts of Egbema local government area. Oguta is worst hit with logistical snag as INEC is yet to deliver election materials there.

12: 30 PM -No materials or INEC officials seen in any polling units in Ejemewuru in Awa ward up to the boundary of Rivers state in Oguta LGA. Matewrials were reportedly diverted to the home a house of representative member elected two weeks ago. Massive thumbprinting of ballot papers in progress.

12: 45 PM -No officials and materials in Polling Unit 008 Izombe, Oguta 2. Security trying to control anxious voters. This community is very suspicious of visitors.

1:30 PM- Report from Ngor Okpala:
1. Ward 11, no result sheets for guber, no stamps and no ballot papers for assembly in booths 6 and 9. Earlier two armed men were arrested with arms. apga agents have been beaten and chased out of boots. People are being barred frm voting in the guber by a large number of armed thugs. Voting in homes of key players speculated.

2. Ward 5, our 7 apga agents were pulled out of there boots and taken away by tne police for no reason on the instruction of former chairman of local government Emma Nworgu leaving the boots unprotected. This is one of the areas to watch.

3. Ward 4. The LGA Chairman for Ngor Okpala Enyinnia Onuegbu was caught thumbprinting in his house and going round to intimidate voters with armed policemen.

4. Ward 6 booth 004 result sheets in many of these booths are photocopies. Ballot papers are incomplete. The APGA and ACN agents were beaten up and pushed out of boot at gun point by Okenze Obinna working for the PDP. The ballot papers in ward 6 are said to be fake just as the result sheets are photocopies.

5: ward 4 booth 17, no ballot box. People have refused to vote unless there is ballot box. Question is. Where is ballot box for booth 17 of over 800 accredited voters?
6. In virtually all the booths, INEC staff are allowing PDP agents come into booth with money. The are compelling people to show the their thumprinted ballot papers for confirmation and disbursement.

Thousands Of Women Voters Stage Protest In Oguta Over Conduct Of Supplementary Elections

Posted: May 6, 2011 - 16:50

Today’s "Supplementary Elections" called by INEC to complete Imo's "inconclusive" gubernatorial elections  ran into troubled waters in Oguta local government area in the state as  election materials failed to arrive the area on time.

It was not clear what happened to the materials as at the time of filling this report but women in the area sensing that the troubled governor of the state, Ikedi Ohakim, colluded with unscrupulous INEC officials to short change voters in the area embarked aon a massive protest defying the army and police,

No fewer than 1,000 voters at Oguta lag   took to the streets  to force INEC to postpone elections in the area. INEC hasn't explained why there  the non availability of electoral materials for the supplementary governorship poll in the area.

Protesters mostly led by brave women trooped out early in the morning for the registration to enable them cast their votes but after hours of waiting in vain for the arrival of the materials the people took to the streets.

As at 3 p.m. the exercise had yet to begin and no INEC official could be found in the area to explain the situation. But SaharaReporters gathered that the elections were postponed to avoid a total breakdown of law and order in the area.

The protesters carried green leaves and  chanted; `` No election in Oguta’’.

A senior police officer, DIG,  I.U Okoronkwo accompanied by the Area Police Commander, Tambari Mohammed and heads of other security agencies in the state as well as the supervising Resident Electoral Officer Aniedi  Ikoiwak visited the area to  assess the situation.

The Security team met  with the INEC officials before leaving.

The protesters alleged electoral malpractice and warned INEC not to accept or declare any result from Oguta insisting that no election took place in the area.
SaharaReporters had revealed in earlier updates that today's supplementary elections in Imo state was a logistical failure in all respects.
