Osinbajo has actually shown himself to be an adept leader. However it seems Yorubas are still divided on who gets their support. Osinbajo or Tinubu. The latter will be a huge mistake.

I think Osinbajo is not an adept political leader like you're trying to portray him. Forget individualization, he's part of the current government that has brought untold hardships to Nigerians. If he isn't, he ought to have resigned long ago and then I'll trust his credibility.

Big tech companies need to start paying tax seriously, especially those that have huge and massive presence in Nigeria and the financial act is crystal clear. It's high time.
Bolustical:
Watch out for white slaves who will condemn the FG for this good initiative.

How can a private entity keep making money from Nigeria without remitting its taxes?

Can a Nigerian firm try the same abroad without the FBI/IRS breathing on its neck?

The hatred for Buhari has made some of you haters of your country but we move.

This is dumb and unenforceable because many online companies don't have any offices in Nigeria.

Even if they did try and enforce it, the companies would just block access from Nigerian IP addresses if the stress from the government is too much.

Many of you use the Internet every day yet have no clue how it works.

Fully supported. Why should Netflix, Uber, Air Bnb, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube etc make money from Nigeria, but not pay any tax in Nigeria!? It means so much Naira will chase dollars for them to repatriate profit, which puts pressure on dollar, which the populace then suffer from. So at least the government should make something.

It's only in developed countries that you resign out of honor and it actually has an impact.

If you resign in todays Nigeria, your position is going to Buhari's brother.

I believe it's a wise decision to lay low until you get the opportunity. Twice the dullard was away Osinbajo stabilized the economy.

He has his faults I admit but so do we all.

It is very enforceable. Go to dubai and try to use WhatsApp to call. It will not work! Even with what ever vpn. If I'm not mistaken you can only chat with WhatsApp there, but not call. They use it to ensure visitors buy tourist sim cards which is expensive that they make money from. They certainly found a way to make WhatsApp unusable.

What are you insinuating?

Do those entities have physical presence in Nigeria? No. Are they the only platforms making money from NIgerians no. What this actually translates to is that the government will be taxing virtually every website that generates income from NIgerians. If that doesn't translate to hardship for Nigerians, no problem.

The question is, why is Buhari all of a sudden interested in taxing tech companies heavily?

They're not required to have physical presence in Nigeria before being taxable.

Incomes derived from Nigeria by foreign entities are taxable under the Nigerian tax laws ... meaning incomes Twitter, Facebook and other big tech companies derive from Nigeria are taxable in Nigeria, irrespective of their physical presence in the country. Similar laws are applicable in most countries but the fear of the big tech companies have been a deterrent to their applications.

Stop giving opinions on issues you have no inkling about. Don't be a fool!

Because they make a lot of profit from Nigeria. If they become too many, it could also contribute to capital flight.

I actuly support that. If Linda Ikeji blog makes so much money to the extent of being able to buy that house then she should certainly pay tax!!

If I be LIRS chairman ehn. How is someone who buys N400m House in Nicon Town complaining about N100k land use charge!? Left for me, so they should pay like N1m per annum.

If you have a $500k house in US, your property tax will be like $4k - $6k (N2m - N3m) per year.

You and the VP are not smart.

Until Nigeria become an enabling environment, the focus should be on bringing these tech giants into Nigeria so that they can support other tech businesses, create jobs, and invest in technology. Flutterwave and Paystacks are hosted on cloud platform based in USA .

Same thing with those who drive luxury cars sef. Vehicle license for Range Rover (and other luxury brands) should be like N30k, while they can leave that of Toyota, Honda etc at normal N3k. Basically, tax the wealthy who live in Ikoyi, Banana, Park View etc
