As the outcry over perceived skewed appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari in favour of the North against the South continues to reverberate across the country, investigation by New Telegraph shows that those alleging marginalization may not be far from the truth.

The study, which focused on appointment of key presidential aides, as well as heads of the security agencies, clearly showed that most members of Buhari’s kitchen cabinet hail from the North.

President Buhari had, last week, told critics, who accuse him of nepotism and lop-sidedness in appointments, as well as execution of projects, that all decisions about policies, projects, and appointments by his administration have been guided by equity and inclusiveness.

The President, who spoke through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, in Abuja, at the maiden edition of the Progressives Youth Conference organised by the youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that there is no part of the country that has not been impacted positively in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, and economic support initiative based on peculiarities of the regions.

His words: “So far, all the policies, initiatives, projects, and even appointments by this administration have been guided by equity and inclusiveness.

There is actually no part of the country that has not been impacted positively in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, and economic support initiative based on peculiarities of the regions. What an area lacks in one aspect is compensated for in another.”

While ethnic nationality groups such as pan Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere; apex Igbo body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Middle Belt Forum (MBF) faulted Buhari’s claim, findings from New Telegraph investigation, showed for instance, that out of the first 30 major appointments the President made when he came to power in 2015, 23 went to the North, while the South got seven.

Most of the first term appointees returned when the President reconstituted his kitchen cabinet after his inauguration for a second term in office on May 29, 2019 and the North still topped the chart.

Besides key presidential aides, the study revealed that the President is more disposed to having individuals from his region as heads of the various security agencies.

Deep Quote
Citizens suffer when there is a bad leadership in power/position.

We need young visionary leadership that will appoint Technocrats and not structure appointments using ethnic criteria or nepotism or party affiliations like it's been experienced in Nigeria.
9jaRealist:

We need visionary leadership simple, regardless of age (and citizens who pay taxes)…
We the young people on Nairaland, by the many crude tribalistic posts here, have not shown themselves to be better!
>
Critical thinking....the more older you become the more prone to ill health....#FACT.
Been young is important we don't want Medical Tourists @Leadership positions...simple
9jaRealist:

How old is Biden? Or the leaders of China, Japan, Korea, Germany, Singapore, UAE, etc? How old was Mandela?!
Meanwhile, young politicians like Senator Abbas (of the s*x toy shop assault infamy) and Gov Yahaya Bello are as incompetent as any.

Youth without vision is what you often see on Nairaland…
Young Nigerians turning every news story, event or discussion into a primitive fratricidal ethnic/tribal feud! Just DISGRACEFUL!

Personally, I don’t care about age…
I only care about VISION and COMPETENCE (no need having vision without capacity to deliver/execute - that’s just dreaming)!
>
My campaign is for YOUNG VISIONARY LEADERSHIP! Those clueless Nigerian politicians are not in that league reason why come 2023 there must be scrutiny & back ground check.
I expected you to follow my Line of critical thinking as I stated but obviously you didn't...FYI all those countries you mentioned have already developed and considerably reliable Medical Institutions /Establishment(s).
If Biden was a Nigerian President he would be going abroad for Medical Visits going by his health...but he isn't because he is in a country with good medical policies and procedures.
An Irrational lack of care about age as a criteria for choice of leadership in climes like Nigeria is a callous mindset.
Stop comparing Developed nations to Nigeria's present situation.
Be guided.

news telegraph should do more in listing out all the appointments made by president Buhari and their states of origin.
they can do that so we ourselves can decide where the nepotism is coming from.
you can't just give us words like a mere commoner, rather give us facts and figures.
the ministerial appointments were evenly distributed across states and regions so also was the service chiefs..

It will take a Buhari kind of person from the south to undo the level of imbalance that has been done by this administration. But funny enough, once a southerner gets to that office he will preach unity more than anyone else, he will even favor the north more out of fear, political correctness, and wish to be seen as been detribalised, whereas the north don't give a fu*k what you think when they practice their nepotism.

And this is news? They have more states, so logically will have more slots based on quota. What we should be discussing is the Southern leaders use their slots for?.. Look politicians don't do North or South, they deal in what is their for them! No tribe and religion when it comes to looting the treasury.. Madueke na thief, Farouk na thief, Dimeji Bankole thief, Orji kalu ko na rogue.....

Gej's administration was Igbo dominated. They were walking in & out of Aso rock like it's their house backyard.
Anyim Pius's office of SGF was 100% ibo staffed.
Stella Odua heavily favoured ibos in the Aviation ministry. This was barely six years ago.
Abeg, the dot should keep quiet and stop sounding like a broken record.

We have 6 geo-political zones in the country.
NE, NC, NW, SE, SW, SS.

Even if there are six positions and one zone got one each, Nigeria will still scream 3 Hausa, 1 Igbo, 1 Yoruba and 1 South South.

We see the North as one, forgetting that they are also 3 zones.
