House Of Representatives Reject Lifting Of Twitter Ban By Majority Vote by iwaeda: 3:26pm On Jul 01, 2021
The House of Representatives, on Thursday, rejected the lifting of Twitter suspension.

The rejection came while the House was considering the report of its Committee on the matter.

Recall that the House had mandated its Committees on Information, ICT, Intelligence, Justice and Orientation to investigate the circumstances of the suspension by the federal government.

At the consideration of the report, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Toby Okechukwu suggested an amendment to one of the recommendations.

It states “That the Federal Government should take into cognizance the negative effect of the Twitter suspension on Nigerians who depend on the platform for their livelihood,” and lift the suspension.

Seconded by another member, the motion was however rejected by the majority of the House when put to vote.

shocked

Why should the Twitter ban be lifted?

Afterall, the only people whose means of livelihood has been affected by the ban are those who have taken up the act of criticizing government as a job function.
Criticising our country is unpatriotic, infact it is devilish to complain.
We should be grateful that our farms are fertile enough to feed our herdsmen's cows.
We must not encourage unpatriotism.

It is unfair to ask herdsmen to build ranches when we have sufficient farmlands all over Benue and Oyo states to feed their cattle.

Many of our fathers are drunkards and most of our mothers are prostitutes, but we never say it in the public. We celebrate them every father's day and call them the best moms.
So how come we find it so easy to expose our darling daddy's government's inefficiencies?

We did not even for a second think that trying to expose the October 20th Lekki toll-gate Massacre on Twitter was unpatriotic.

How did we lose it?

Our forefathers have always suffered and smiled but the lazy youths of today want to challenge the status quo and will not hear till they are spoken to in languages they understand abi?

For now that language is Hausa, Malami makes official addresses in it.
So those who have so far relied on Twitter for information should better switch to BBC Hausa or Voice of America Hausa.

The earlier you enrol for language lessons in Hausa, the better for you. Because before long, even the governors in the South will start speaking Hausa.

Sai Baba but na to japa sure pass for everybody because our country is in a state of hopelessness.

These people, what are they thinking in their heads?

After all Nnamdi Kanu has been arrested.

What about the young Nigerians whose livelihood depends on Twitter?

That is where many students get their schools fees and feeding monies from.

Reason I laugh when I heard people saying National Assembly will offer constitution amendments, forget 24 states of HOS must approve it. With 20 to 16 how do you win?

Twitter ban is now a norm...Nigerians have moved on as usual.

The Government knows this....Take away their comfort, they will cry for a while and eventually adapt to a new norm...

Exactly what they have done...We've moved on!!!

It's now about Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho... angry

Let it be like that until Twitter and FG come to terms.

Twitter are not perfect, they also have their flaws. I am sure they would have also learnt one or two lessons from the event.

We will keep using other social media platforms till then. Those that have been using VPN too can continue till then
