ROCHAS OKOROCHA SET TO QUIT APC, PLANS UNDERWAY TO REJOIN PDP - IMO LAWMAKER

Former Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial Zone, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha is set to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This revelation was made by Senator Samuel Anyanwu while speaking to newsmen over the weekend.

Senator Anyanwu, a former Lawmaker disclosed that some Imo lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress have started negotiating to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

Anyanwu said this concerning the future of PDP and the state in 2023.

He said: “If national and state Lawmakers are secretly negotiating for a come-back into PDP, those already in the party should see their membership as a privilege to remain loyal and dedicated to party rules.

Over the past year, the All Progressives Congress in Imo State has been besieged by internal rancour, which has seen former Governor Rochas Okorocha fighting for his political life.

The former Governor had gone ahead to set up a parallel Party structure led by Dan Nwafor, which has been declared illegal and void by the party national leadership.

Okorocha who disclosed to newsmen last week that he has been unable to enrol in the massive revalidation exercise of the APC, has been accused of anti-party activities, chief among which is the attempt to destabilize the party before his move into the PDP.

Former Governor Rochas Okorocha began his political career in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where he contested in the party Governorship primaries in 1999. Okorocha lost to Achike Udenwa who would go on to become a two-time governor of Imo state.

Okorocha should be magnanimous enough to retrace his footsteps back to APGA, the party that gave him the ride to the governorship seat and not PDP.

After using all his finances and political muscle to force Buhari on us in Imo state? This rabble rouser had the temerity to look Imo people in the face and told them then that "Jonathan was not doing anything for Ndigbo and Buhari is coming to fix that"! Fought everyone who told him to tread carefully.. Then his father Buhari became the president and Imo State/East has been singled out for the type of marginalisations never seen before! There was no single major project done in Imo State by Buhari while Rochas Okorocha was the governor! None! It became so glaring, you would think he has a personal beef with Buhari...

Apparently those at Abuja decided to cut him to size politically, very early, because of his wayward political ambitions and to them the best way to do so was to maim Imo State. That witch-hunt ultimately led to the imposition of a certified crook as the governor of Imo State by Buharis supreme court! We have suffered enough for the empty politikings of these self-centered characters! Folks like Rochas Okorocha, Hope Uzodinmma and Orji Kalu have done too much damage to the political fortunes of Eastern Nigeria and should be told to leave politics and face their businesses... They have absolutely nothing meaningful to contribute other than to angle for every vacant political positions in order to stay relevant in the scheme of things..

I am a bit concerned about how we play politics of no ideology with people jumping from one party to another. One of the things we need to fix in this country is the fact that parties win elections, not individuals. So, anyone who decamps from a party ought to lose their poltiical position.
