Your project topic should be something unique, fresh and will contribute to the body of knowledge. Even if it is not a fresh topic, you can approach it from a fresh perspective. The Rwandan Genocide has been dissected from every conceivable angle so if you want to write on it, it should be from an angle that nobody has ever written on. That angle is a defence of the genocide. Can you defend the genocide using the contemporary socio-political African terra ferma, using Nigeria in particular as a case study? If you can do that then you are good to go, BUT you must be ready to research hard, drawing parallels with the Nigerian situation and the potential for ethnic explosion.
