The Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel has concluded arrangement to treat his successor, Ibikunle Amosun to a colourful welcome party on Saturday, May 28, 2011, NEXT gathered yesterday in Abeokuta.

[size=18pt]The party is slated for Government House Valley View, Oke-Igbein, Abeokuta.[/size]

Messrs Daniel and Amosun, who started out as political allies, are now political adversaries and the incoming government, led by the Action Congress of Nigeria, has promised to probe the activities of the state government. The party might, however, ease some of the tension between the two.

Some aides of Mr Daniel also revealed that the governor would commission some projects before finally leaving office on May 29.

Some of the projects to be commissioned include: the Ogun Property Investment Corporation (OPIC) building located at Oke-Ilewo area, Abeokuta, scheduled for May 12; commissioning of palace extension at Ijebu-Ode on May 14 and dedication of OGD Church on 22nd May, 2011.

Other projects earmarked for commissioning are Hostels of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode on Monday, 23 May, following which as Mini Power Plant will be commissioned

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has accused the administration of Governor Gbenga Daniel of selling the Ogun State Liaison Office building on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Sola Lawal, ACN alleged that the House was sold last Thursday, but the government is keeping it secret.
The party also alleged that the government has sold the official quarters of the Chief Justice of the State on Oba Ademola Street, Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, and that of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to senior government officials.
It accused Daniel of selling several hectares of land at the eight farm settlements established by the Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s Western Region government in 1954 to his acolytes at paltry sums.
ACN criticised over 2000 appointments made by the government in the last two weeks.
It alleged that the promotion of 17 school principals to grade level 17 did not follow due process, stressing that the law does not permit the promotion of principals beyond level 16 .

This is  another perceived way for the evil genius, Daniel to lure Amosun into his looting spree strategy. By the time Daniel's government will come with the budget of the so called welcome party, everybody will be astonished. Amosun should know that if he has to dine with the devil, he must use a very long cutlery. Amosun beware.
