Olalomi Olofagangan the founder of Offa kingdom now in Kwara state was a Crown Prince from Oyo kingdom. 3.Igbo Oya, a place where Oya the wife of Alaafin Sango is believed to have entered the ground after the death of Alaafin Sango, her husband is located in Ira, Oyun local government Kwara State. 4. The biggest of all is Ilorin. Ilorin was a town under Oyo and military out post where Oyo army resided headed by Afonja is now the capital of Kwara State. 5. Prince Olakanmi the founder of Oro kingdom was also from Oyo, his wife was Egba in a place now Abeokuta. And many more... Kwara state is 80 percent Yorubas of Oyo extraction. The name Kwara is Hausa language referring to River Niger. Geographically Kwara State is located in South West but made North central for political reasons and because Ilorin is ruled by Emir. Will the Yorubas forgo these heritage and form Yoruba nation? |
