My friend's account got emptied on Saturday by a fraudster using SPORTYPAY platform. An OTP was sent to him and immediately an unknown number flashed him. Shortly afterwards he started seeing debit alerts even without given out the OTP.

Getting to his bank today, he's been told the possibility of getting the money back is slim if not impossible.

Now, checking out the SPORTYPAY site, we discover that they don't have a standard or working platform, while Sportypay.ng automatically redirects to a porn site...

Also, there have been similar complaint online about same thing happening and same platform used to defraud other people of their hard earned money.

CONCERNS:
� Are customer's money still safe in the banks?
� Is it that the security network in the banks are now porous and vulnerable to cyber attacks?

Please those in appropriate authority should do something about this before it goes beyond control and possibly cause unwarranted depression and death at worst.

That's the problem. It's hard to believe that the OTP wasn't called out to the said fraudster. The whole thing happened like a magic, and in less than 2minutes.

Some of you that doesn't understand how these things work, think anybody can just wake up one morning and build a payment processor to be defrauding people? If you create your payment processor without following standard/rules, all cards would be declined.

They just trigger the first OTP, the take over the sim by cloning just for some time, finish the job and reactivate the owners sim.

Owner won't even notice that his sim was switched of from the network.

Finally, everyone should be very careful using pos.

Better transfer money to them than use your card.

80% of pos workers are agents/informants who harvest your data and hand over to the guys.

Sir, thing is, we were just together gisting on Saturday... No online transaction done. In fact the phone were on the table. Next thing we saw was OTP mssage, then a flashing from that number and debit alerts started entering. All in less than 2 minutes. As I said, it's difficult to convince anyone on this. But that's just it.
No card exposure, no OTP given out.

I don't know why people are fighting in this thread over something that we know not how it occurred. But I want to say this, as long as you use an ATM or have one linked to your bank you may be a victim tomorrow. Most incidents like this occur due to lack of sensitization from the issuing banks. I still see a lot of people queueing at ATM machine holding their cards like a passport not minding that it can be cloned easily. Also as long as you withdraw via a POS or any transaction that requires you to present your card in its physical form, you might be a victim tomorrow too. Best thing is to remove all online access, Card access, mobile, ussd, and magic money access from your main account. Lets just pray for the best while we expect the worse.

They already have his details. Thing is that, some people are naive. They expose their details without even knowing. The day he exposed his card details might not even be that Saturday you guys were together gisting.

He’s saying the truth, I’m a victim lucky I had just 1k in my account then otherwise I was shocked, I had to reinstall the app and try to understand how it happened and until today I haven’t been able to, I can show you a screenshot of the debit alert.
