Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State on Saturday, August 7 in Maiduguri, received received Ruth Ngladar Pogu, one of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted seven years ago at a Government Secondary School in Chibok, Newspremises reports.

Recall that Boko Haram members had attacked the school towards midnight on April 14, 2014, and abducted the students.

A statement released from the governor's office, said Ruth, alongside someone she was said to have forcefully been married to during her captivity, surrendered themselves to the Nigerian military on July 28, 2021, at a location in Bama.

Under Governor Zulum’s supervision, security and government officials kept the development secret and used the last 10 days to contact her parents and the association of parents of the missing schoolgirls in order to ascertain her identity.

The spokesperson of the governor, Malam Isa Gusau, said the governor received the Chibok girl at the Government House in the presence of her overwhelmed parents who reunited with her.

An excited Governor Zulum said reuniting with Ruth was a boost to keeping the hopes of parents, other family members and Borno State government alive in the optimism that all others, still in captivity, will be safely found and in good health.

Governor Zulum said the government, in collaboration with Ruth and her parents, will undertake a rehabilitation and reintegration programme that will focus on her health, psychosocial wellbeing, and her chosen path to a productive future, all of which will be determined by her.

"I am extremely excited both as Borno’s Governor and father of all sons and daughters of the state, and also as a father to daughters. I know the feeling of families of those still under captivity but we have to remain hopeful especially with today’s development”the governor said.

Chairman of the Chibok Girls Movement, an association of all affected parents, Yakubu Keki, expressed joy over the return of Ruth Nglari Apagu. He said, the people of Chibok appreciate the efforts of security establishments and the concern and support regularly shown by Governor Zulum on the plight of parents whose daughters are still missing.

Islamist terrorists have laid eggs of shame and backwardness into this pretty gal's life. When we say bokoharam is a war against Christianity, some fools say otherwise just to deceive the deceivables or gulluble minds

That is government directive to release her to her parent. They have hid the identity of the Islamic boko haram terrorist husband. Tomorrow he will join Nigeria army and his terrorism towards christians will have official backing. It is high time the Northern Christians unite and form a repellent security outfit, otherwise the game plan of these terrorists is to wipe out christianity in the north. Northern leaders from Kaduna, Bauchi, Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Bornu, Kebbi should urgently unite and form a resistance group to stop these terrorists. The only language bullies understand is to stand up to them.

The creation of boko haram and its mission has been achieved. They're moving into the next phase already. The first phase was to destroy churches and Christians in the NE. Thousands of churches and hundreds of Christian settlements in the region have been supplanted with Muslims. Boko haram couldn't penetrate north central so they remembered the traditional enemy of the region(fulani herdsmen) and equipped them to wipe off the people. This is currently ongoing and even scaled into attacking the South. The South however have started fighting back forcing them to stop the boko campaign where under the deceit, thousands of Christian soldiers were deliberately killed.
Currently they've come open and brought their intentions before everyone. The killings that will come from the 'ember' months will be so great such that international media organizations will be forced to show them.
Every southerner must brace up.
