A 200-level student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State has allegedly committed suicide inside one of the hostel rooms on Friday, August 20.

The Nation reports that the deceased student who hailed from Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, was said to be studying Industrial Physics. It was gathered that the body was reportedly found inside one of the hostel blocks dangling with a rope around his neck.

An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, said

“The deceased locked himself inside the room and when the door was broken, he was seen dangling with a rope around his neck.”

Another source who described the deceased as a quiet and calm student, adding that he never showed any sign of depression before the incident.

Reacting to this development, the Chief Security Officer of the Institution, Ken Chukwura, said the deceased’s roommates have been invited for further questioning while investigation had commenced. He however called on the students to go about their activities without fear as the situation was under control.

Also confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police command, Ikenga Tochukwu, described it as unfortunat,e adding that an investigation had commenced.

Debt (Unable to pay for his school fees, owing people so much money...etc.)

Heartbreak (A lady broke his heart or his grades were so bad that he started seeing himself as a failure)

Spiritual problem. (His foundation finally caught up with him)

Always be nice to people cos you don't know what they're going through, smile and give them hope, a lot of Nigerians are passing through a lot under Buhari's government, don't worsen their plight by being harsh to them.

There is nothing in this world. The fact that we will all die has made everything worthless and meaningless.

I have not heard in my life that a student in the Northern part of Nigeria chose suicide as an option despite them graduating without speaking English/ or even understand English language yet they graduate. Yet we the Southerns keep making things difficult for our own people.
North hiding under federal character and educationally less developed states to move ahead while we keep making life miserable for our people.
