Adhesive didn't directly kill him but the failure to get excretory products out of his own system might have led to multiple infections from the same excretory products.

He died of organs failure as a result of infection due to inability to remove excretory products from his system. Simple as ABC.
His gf didn't die, he didn't die when he didn't block his own chanel for waste removal. Drug would definitely kill him in the long run but wouldn't be sudden multiple organs failure. And I hope you read the similar cases I mentioned
