It can be tough to balance for policy makers.
On one hand, you have the voting British populace which has remained largely anti-imigration without considering the positive effect these working age folks bring to the society . Also there is the need to keep salaries competitive and attractive for local folk so that companies dont have the free hand to import foreign workers thereby increasing supply of labour which will result in pay suppression.

On the other hand, you have critical sectors who are lacking staff e.g farms, HGV drivers e.tc. This inhibits growth. Also, without immigration (i.e good supply of labour), the government would need to pay much more for health and social care (if standards were maintained) which results in increased taxes e.t.c. The UK is largely a service based economy and doesn't have the huge export to rely on.

.

Then they should decide if they want people or not and how they want to do it and be decisive

All this hot today, cold tomorrow makes it seem as if they aren't competent or don't know how to go about it (maybe they actually don't)

Hi everyone!

I recently got a Hisense smart tv hoping to watch the world cup with it.

There are lots of apps on the VIDAA store to watch movies and other live tv but none is showing live matches. There's even no app with a subscription option to watch live sports.

I have read about IPTV here. Please who can put me through on how to go about it please

Ahahah, this is very relatable, I will ask myself shey na work we come do or chop and flex,Seriously they work smart and play hard, we have been watching all World Cup matches in the office , if you see our kitchen with food, fruits and edibles, I will just be thinking and crying silently of my working experience in Nigeria, Every Thursdays is Drink night at my office too, Fridays for bonding night, we chose an activity we do which can be indoor or outdoor, Last Friday was Axe Throwing which I never did in my life, we ended up in a club, I had to run home to meet my family, we spent not less than 800£, Sometimes I wonder they make profit with all of their expenses.

Channels TV streams on YouTube 24/7.

NTA streams live on YouTube for major network news.

A friend uses the DSTV Now app to access the Naija stations in the UK. But she uses VPN. Hope that helps.

Hi everyone,

I have a friend who works with an agency. he's a 24hrs support worker. he has grown to be a hard worker to the client and the client loves the companionship and emotional support he offers. The wife of the client also loves him. They prefer him to the other support workers who work there.

Now the issue is, the wife wants her to be the main support worker along with one other worker she choses. They want to employ her directly and stop the agency from sending workers there.

The wife of the client isn't aware of her visa status as a tier 4 student. The agency has also promised her tier 2 sponsorship. There is so so much uncertainty about the tier 2 sponsorship.

This is a situation of not biting the hands that feed you. She doesn't want the client to withdraw from the agency and wants to also continue working for the agency. Her fear is that she may lose on both sides. Not getting the sponsorship and also losing the client.

What are her options? Is there any visa that she can apply for to work with the client directly? She's confused.

Today the client is very happy with her, tomorrow she might not be. Then she would be out of work. ..if the client cannot offer her sponsorship then what’s is there to think about ?..
let her open up to client about her current visa status that way she can still work with the agency and have her favourite client

No, that's not quite right. For admin/project support roles and its likes, there's no sponsorship at band 3 but for HCA roles and it's like, yes.
rayralph:

Sponsorship is from band 3.

Provided it full time/permanent 37.5hrs.

there is nothing like employee loyalty, you simply go with the employer that serves your interest best. No sentiments, they like her because she's hardworking. They too are not sentimental, whoever can guarantee her tier 2 is what she should go for

It’s called socialising, nobody forced anyone to drink. You just use sense to follow these people so you wouldn’t be tagged as antisocial. I could be nursing the same glass of wine for the evening or even have sparkling water and lime which will look like a gin and tonic.

Afternoon Elders,

Is claim for help with health costs (NHS) for Optical Lens, Dental and others part of public fund? I got to know that I can get NHS Certificates for discount payments for my glasses and that of my children.

I also received a mail from my children’s school on Scottish child payment. I guess this will be from public fund. Help clarify too.

Finally, are those on PSW allowed to benefit from public funds?

Thanks

I don’t know about the top two. But the last one on PSW is NO. No recourse to public fund.

Just this morning I was wondering why someone contributing 20/21% of their earning is not qualified for public fund. The person is already contributing to the economy, so why not get access to the contribution. This UK can leave person with so many questions sometimes.

They want to employ your friend on their own? Hmmm what license doesn’t your friend have to operate as a lone support worker. Also how can your friend’s hours be measured as that would mean that your friend is a freelancer. Also, sticking to the client would mean taking business away from the agency which can go sideways for your friend as one email from the agency to UKVI and your friend’s visa might get revoked for breach of her visa terms. Your friend should tread carefully please.
