fkj950ax: Your argument is based on the fact that because California legalized weed then Nigeria should. That is not a good argument. California legalized shoplifting should Nigeria also legalize shoplifting? Have you ever considered the fact that the law in California legalising marijuana use is very strict on the production, transportation, buying and using of marijuana for recreational purposes something that can not be apply in a country like ours where people are lawless. Let's look at the present consumption of marijuana in our society, most people use it to get high, use it to boast their confidence to rob, murder and rape. How about psychosis gotten from marijuana, the depression, the anxiety, panic attacks, the unwillingness to participate in society. also i have never seen anybody that wants to be an active part of society smoking weed. |

thebosstrevor1:Your problem is an inherited brain disease . Who tell you say Nigerians no dey smoke am for medical reasons abi you don dey follow all Igbo smokers dey waka to know their reasons of smoking it . People even leave Nigeria to go and be smoking it in other to better their health why doesn't the government make it legal for the sake of those who need it for medical purposes. If you say they should not legalize it move to the north and stay so that you don't worry people who embrace mordern idea . Your last statement calling marijuana weed shows how senseless and misinformed you are.If you don't know what to say then shut up before you start saying the Bible mentioned herbs not weed . Weed is a nickname. Modified The countries that legalized it for recreational use are wise enough to know its benefits (it can be used to stop alcohol addiction etc ) . If they legalize marijuana doesn't make it compulsory for everyone to use the God given herb.get sense. Modified again Smoking is a mordernised way of taking marijuana . you don't expect people to still use fowl feathers to write etc . The early man once ate some today's cooked food raw .get sense things must mordernise . 1 Like |

thebosstrevor1: Case studies is the backbone of any new thing. The negative effects listed above is a very small percentage of those that currently smoke weed in Nigeria. I want us to see beyond the perception that once you smoke weed, then you act out these things. The illegal tag around it drives it underground where production can't be standardized or processed. Hence the contaminants or inability to remove certain substances that exercebate these negative effects Nigeria keeps highlighting. If we legalize it, production and distribution comes out of the shadows, and quality improves. Nobody or brand will want a bad product attached to their image, which will lead to users going to the next supplier. This alone will greatly reduce the current number of spiked or contaminated weed being consumed. Out of every 100 people that smoke weed. Are we saying 80 - 90 go out to rob, rape or become recalcitrant? Its probably 5 or 10. Why are the other 80 people not affected? In an unregulated country like Nigeria. This is where I draw inference to California who has brought it to the open, and not because we should just copy them. Before they did that, they had studies and research conducted that eventually passed through their parliament and courts before being signed into law. That is a rigorous process. A lot of people that are part of Nigerian society smoke in hiding. Because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't there. The psychosis and addiction and all other negative effects currently exists, let's deal with them within a framework that will handle them better or provide health response to them. My reference to California is the fact that cannabis is legalized and there is no record of increased negative effect on the residents of California. This is where Marwa misses the assignment So if its legalized under strict production, distribution and use, it will resolve many issues and perception. |

New York legalized marijuana in 2021. Arrest summons from marijuana DECLINED from 3000 plus to 8 (EIGHT) under 60 days after legalization. We need to revisit marijuana myths, truths, health POV and the public policy around it, borrowing a leaf from Gov. Akeredolu and not Buba Marwa.
