Brazil is a wonderful country with lots of opportunities and the cost of living is relatively low compared to other countries in the west or even some other parts of South America and this is why so many foreigners come to Brazil to live and to have a nice and peaceful life, I would be breaking down the cost of living from the state I reside In Brazil so you can understand what to expect when you come to Brazil, so you can hit the ground running and this is the latest and current info as of 2021.

The cost of rent for a 2 bedroom in a good area starts from 800-1000 reais and most Brazilians love to stay in condos because they provide security, you can get as from 1000-1500 reais and above, you can still get a house lower than 800reais

The cost of electricity for a month is about 150reais-200reais and this depends on what you use at home

The cost of water is about the same price as electricity 150reais-200reais

Cost of the Internet: you can get 120mbps for 120reais per month but some companies offer more for 140-150reais per month

Cost of groceries per month, you can spend between 600-700 reais on groceries per month, depends on the size of your family, we are just 3, me my girlfriend and my son

A plate of food is 12reais in Brazil

Cooking Gas is 95reais

Gasoline is around 6-7reais per liter

The Dollar is 5.30reais/$1

Education, government schools are free and they give food to the kids and some reading materials and you buy some and we also have private schools

Health care is free but you can opt for private hospitals if you can not wait because most times the waiting list for public hospitals is very long

Taxes for your MEI[micro]business is from 56reais and above depending on the kind of company or business you have

Thank you! So on average a Nigerian immigrant should be fine living on 155k a month. Might I suggest you do a thread detailing how to relocate to Brazil on a study visa?

The views and engagements will be mad!

Yes sure you can survive ,I don't want to talk about visa because its been long and the process is no longer the same and it would detail my main mission and that is to educate people more about Brazil to let them know that Brazil is not just about the favelas and rio

Brazil actually gives scholarships to Nigerian students to study in Brazil and I posted it, but they must learn Portuguese

Yes I talked about it below and I wanted to post it tomorrow but you can go through it.

Paraná/curitiba in the south of Brazil is nice and cold and they have Nigerians there but aside that I don't know any other thing, I would be visiting the state soon

The cost of living increased recently and things used to be cheap many months ago before the pandemic and Brazil is still cheaper than many countries in Latin America eg like cars are expensive in Brazil but food is cheap

Brazil life is a little better than Nigeria but is not wonderful. The life in Brazil is not easy. Is very hard also. i'm not saying this to discourage you but i'm realistic.
- The minimum wage in Brazil is 224 USD. Brazil is really a expensive country. Some things are so expensive today.
- We have a free public health in Brazil. Is not horrible but is not amazing. Condoms and pills are free in Brazil. The public health is quite overloaded. Quick medical appointments are easy to get. But if you need surgery it takes months to a year.
- Public transport is very crowded.
- Only 4% of Brazil speak english. Learning portuguese is required

But if living cost is around 175000 naira and minimum wages is 85000 naira. Then there is contradiction.
How can we break even?
Pls kindly explain on this minimum wage

The estimate i gave is based on my own calculations, if you are a single man with no kid in Brazil it would definitely be lower, the cost of rent and groceries would be lower
