NORTH CENTRAL ZONE OF NYCN DECLARES THREE DAYS MOURNING OVER LOSS OF BENUE STATE CHAPTER CHAIRMAN



The North Central zone of the National Youth Council of Nigeria said it has gotten approval from the President of the NYCN Amb. Sukubo Sara-igbe Sukubo has declared three days of mourning, following the loss of the Benue State Chapter of the Council, Comrade George Odoo. Comrade Odoo had been declared missing for days after he embarked on a short trip until the news broke that he had been involved in an accident and passed on to the great beyond.
In a press release signed by the Vice President of the Zone, Comrade Mukhtar Akoshile, the NYCN described Comrade George as “a passionate youth with indomitable zeal couched in humility and wisdom beyond his years”. Comrade Akoshile also described the loss of Comrade Odoo as an “unquantifiable loss to the whole of Nigeria and Benue state in particular as he was shaping up to be a genuine impact maker in national affairs, from his stint in the Benue state youth council”.
Comrade Akoshile directed that “all flags be flown at half-mast in all council offices within the north-central zone, while the minute silence should be observed at all functions of the chapters within the zone for the next one month”.

Comrade Akoshile condoled with the family and the good people of Benue state led by the Executive Governor Samuel Ortom and assured them that “Comrade Odoo’s legacy of bringing stability to youth council activities in Benue state will be sustained and consolidated upon to ensure that Benue youth are not left out of the many capacity building and welfare packages available to them through council advocacy and programmes”. The zonal vice president also announced that formal condolence activities and programmes to preserve his memory are planned, and details will be announced after an emergency meeting of zonal executives that has been summoned for today, and due consultations with the Benue state chapter as well as other stakeholders.
