He was knocked down by the military vehicle illegally using a BRT lane on Ikorodu Road while he was on his way to work.

The Nigerian Air Force vehicle, violating the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Law in Lagos State, has allegedly killed a 31-year-old professional dancer, Ifeanyin Kalu.

According to popular stage actor, Segun Adefila, the deceased was knocked down by the military vehicle illegally using a BRT lane on Ikorodu Road while he was on his way to work.

Ifeanyin’s lifeless body was said to be in the mortuary of NAF hospital in Lagos, while his mother’s body was in another mortuary in the same state.

Sources said his mother, Mrs Oluchi Kalu, died of cardiac arrest in August 2021.

They added that the Air Force offered the family N200,000 towards Ifeanyin’s burial.

“Ifeanyin was a young Nigerian artist who was diminutive in stature but gigantic in strides. His life was one huge struggle for survival without a thought for crime but through a dint of hard work,” Adefila posted on Facebook.

“He was a prominent member of the Bariga Artists Forum (BAF) and Guild of Nigerian Dance Practitioners (GONDP). He was also a founding member of Dachrismofa Art Troupe and an alumnus of Feetprints Africa and the assistant director of Kings and Queens Art Academy- a children focused theatre group.

“His creative energy lit up every gathering he attended. Born on the 15th of July 1990, Ifeanyi was the second son of his economically disadvantaged family and the fourth child. He was a major breadwinner of the family, a bread not only rarely gotten but also never buttered.

“Their mother and matriarch of the Kalu clan passed on on the 27th of August 2021. On October 20, 2021, Ifeanyin’s life was cut short on the express way of Ikorodu Road. He lived with his aged father and 6 siblings and left them at home on that fateful day for a job he just secured. He was on his way to a school (Temple Schools, Ilupeju) where he was helping to teach the pupils cultural dance and music.

“A Nigerian Air Force vehicle traveling on a BRT lane knocked him down. Ifeanyin’s body is still in the Nigerian Air Force base mortuary. Ifeanyin’s mum is also still in another mortuary. His bereaved family who are definitely inconsolable at the moment also stands the risk of not getting any form of tangible compensation from those whose vehicle knocked him down.”

So sad.

This inane attitude is typical of members of the armed forces. You need to see how they violate traffic laws. They even carry whips and rods to hit people obeying traffic laws while forcing them to leave the road while they pass.

They are notorious for such thuggery. You need to see them panel-beating keke drivers to stop screaming...same driver wey dey cry in anguish induced by the iron rod they earlier hit them. They'll generally gather him and beat him to stupor or any passerby who dares to interfere....that's if they don't shoot them.

The people paid with our taxes to protect us are the ones killing us!

Nigerian government is a failure.

All these uniformed men tho. E come bi like to get common sense for Nigeria kuma, you gats get connection.

Heartbreaking undecided

The foundation of Nigeria truly is faulty! The people who should enforce laws and ensure citizens' safety are the ones breaking all the laws, killing the citizens and flaunting it! That was how one stupid military guy jumped an ATM queue without any excuse. After withdrawing 8,000 he said and I quote: "when you respect civilians, you are disrespecting yourself"! This is a queue that had people older and much more comfortable than this stupid soldier boy.

You see... Very avoidable death.. rules are there to protect all if we would just follow it.

To this end I recommend the person they where driving be court marshalled then sent away from the airforce so he can be trialed as a criminal.

Can somebody tell these barbarians that they are NOT above law Last week, a group of soldiers pursue a vehicle, smashed the windscreen and turned the vehicle upside-down into the nearby gutter, right in front of my very eyes. They were even ready to Lynch the driver if they had gotten hold of him but thankfully the driver ran out of the car b4 they could come close. What was his offense? they said he didn't wait for them to pass.

Naija jaga jaga.
Power abuse is another parasite eating deeply into our society.
Today no be the first day wey soldiers,Nurtw, policemen and any random person uses the BRT lane illegally.
I've used it before illegally same as many people on this platform.
We're all complaining of NPF power abuse, but most of us will do the same if given the uniform...
Police seems to be worst institution in Nigeria.... They're almost turning into Armed robbers.
Visit Goverment hospitals and you will see those nurses and Doctors feeling like a Semi god.
Visit post office and you will see the same.
Visit local goverment for any small doc... they will show you their power.
Go to passport office.
I better pass my neighbor na bad attitude.
I'm ready to change, but I sure won't be the first to change....
Let me know when we're ready...
Till then,we will all continue suffering from our collective stupidity.
RIP to the dead.. sadly you had to end this way.... RIP to the next victim of our anyhowness.
Maybe me,maybe you...
