FEC Approves NNPC’s Request To Fix 21 Federal Roads At ₦621 Billion by ExAngel007(f): 5:09pm On Oct 27, 2021
The federal executive council (FEC) has approved N621.2
billion for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,
(NNPC) to take over the reconstruction of 21 federal roads
across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Babatunde Fashola, minister of works and housing, disclosed after the FEC meeting presided by Vice-President YemiOsinbajo on Wednesday.

The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers
(NUPENG) had decried the loss of its members and
properties to dilapidated roads — but NNPC appealed to the
union to shelve the planned strike and accepted to rebuild
some roads.

The approval, according to Fashola, was in line with
Executive Order No. 007 of 2019 cited as the companies
income tax (Road Infrastructure Development and
Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme) Order, 2019
(“EO7 of 2019” or “the Scheme”), signed by President
Muhammadu Buhari.

He explained that the selected 21 roads are 1804.6
kilometres, and it was a strategic intervention under the
Federal Government Road Infrastructure and Refreshment
Tax Credit Scheme.

The minister further explained that Executive Order 7 allows
the private sector to deploy in advance the taxes they would
pay for infrastructure development.

He said nine of the selected projects are in North Central,
three in North East, two in North West, two in South East,
three in South-South, and two in South West.

All in the North with only one or two in the south. Buhari is the worst clannish and nepotist president in history of Nigeria

What criteria did they use in selection of the Projects that almost 9 out of the total are located in Niger State alone? So Niger and Kwara states are the representative of North-Central. Is it that Tanker drivers don't use other roads in other Part of North-Central?

I'm too lazy today to look up what FG charter or laws gives the NNPC the mandate to construct roads in Naija.

NNPC is one of the most useless parastatals in Nigeria. A corporation that has the responsibility of managing both upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors is not worried that it cannot it can neither do exploration and production nor refine crude oil.

Yet, they are busy building hospitals and constructing roads just to justify their jumbo salaries. At the end of the year, they will declare huge losses for doing absolutely nothing. What's wrong with this country and its administrators? undecided

Kogi and Benue states totally not represented despite linking the north and south. Especially Kogi state that the roads are bad.

Two things are not right here:
The minimal aportioning of project in the South East.
And the likelihood those monies will be siphoned.

Please one question! Can't Federal government help fund the rehabilitation of state roads that are unmotorable?

The Km of roads enumerated for rehabilitation in the North-West is far more than all the ones listed in the Southern region combined

Don't only check the number of roads. Check the lengths also. One road out 9 meant for Northwest will cover the 2 roads in South East

The arrogance of the North though.

All the roads in SS listed as several roads is just a stretch of Cal-Itu highway.

All the roads in the SE listed as several roads is just Abia - Ik road.

Totalling all the KMs of roads constructed in these two regions does not even equal to one stretch of road constructed in either of NE, NE or NC.

And to think the Buhari's government has always been constructing Cal - Itu highway only on pages of Nairaland, I can boldly say this is the last time we will hear of this construction here. Then Sen Ita Enang will commission it in his room.

Rubbish

North is hearthless!

The one Nigeria people for mouth at it again.

Out of 1800 plus km of road south west recieved less than 120 km.
SS recieved less than 120 km.
SE recieved less than 120 km.
Making less than 360 km of roads for the entire south.
Is this how to be one Nigeria?
