Enugu govt raises alarm over illegal tapping of establishments' electricity lines The Enugu State government has raised the alarm over series of illegal connections of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) lines feeding government establishments to private offices and homes by unscrupulous individuals. A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Steve Oruruo disclosed that such illicit acts include “electrical load diversion, voltage (415) bypass, tapping and all manner of unlawful connections”. Oruruo stressed that the criminal acts were surreptitiously executed by the perpetrators to defraud the state government. The Special Adviser stated that the state government directed “all defaulting persons to disconnect forthwith such illegal connections or face the full wrath of the law”. He added that the government enjoined the public to report all cases of illegal and fraudulent connections to the appropriate authorities. #EnuguStateIsInTheHandsOfGod #amokelouis https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1563254374018122&id=100010007227700

Not supporting their actions. But what else do you expect? Are Nigerians not suffering enough? It's their own way of "chopping" from the government. 12 Likes |

None of the comments are condemning the illegal connections, infact people are praising it. All I will say is that those who are doing illegal connection and using electricity without paying for it are putting burden on those of us who actually pay for the power we use, and making it difficult for power companies to raise funds to make things better. 1 Like |

Power supply in the EAST is extremely high. I tell you with all sincerity and conviction that EEDC are the architect of their own problems. You make your tariff so high without thinking of the aftermath of that action. What do you really expect people to do? If you push people to the wall they'll surely look for alternative means. Charging a student as high as 7k per week for a room apartment. Yeye dey smell. They are the architect of their problem abeg. 1 Like |

OEPHIUS: Go and sit down. EEDC has been distributing Postpaid Meters in all parts of Enugu Under the Federal Government National Mass Metering programme (NMMP) just so that they can continue robbing the public with their estimated billing while other DISCO's were distributing Prepaid Meters and Enugu did not raise alarm. EEDC after installing the postpaid meters, still charges the customers by estimation. They don't read the new postpaid meters they installed before issuing bills and Enugu have not raised alarm. Customers have been begging EEDC for prepaid meters even if it means buying without minding the cost and EEDC instead, started mass distribution of Postpaid Meters in this 21st Century and Enugu never raised alarmed. God Punish EEDC, Enugu and the Alarm. |
