Bishop Kukah is very right, tall previous palliatives ends on table of the state government, the cash transfer of COVID 19 was not universal it was limited to northerners. If #2 was given from the pump every body will benefit not just to enrich few at the expense of others . What are criteria used to determine who and who to benefit .

Nigerian government should be ashamed of releasing this opinion into the air. It is an indication that government see nigerians as low life people. What can anyone do with N5000 today? That money is even less than $10. Perhaps they should offer that money to all mabara (roadside beggers) but definitely not for Hardworking Nigerians.

What that graphic you posted forgot to mention is that subsidy is going up next year...should government keep paying it.

Also, subsidy is above 2 trillion this year, and may be higher before the year runs out. That I.8 trillion is a gross understatement.

They should just leave the fuel subsidy. They keep saying the poor don't buy fuel. The poor nor dey go market? They don't know prices of stuffs also depends on price of transportation which will inevitably sour when fuel prices further increase. Is it the 5k that the poor will use to survive? Even now self 5k doesnt get you much in the market. Imagine what 5k will be worth when fuel prices increase.

And that's even if the 5k actually get to 40m Nigerians

The question is why will anyone even want the government to pay such money when it’s obviously removing subsidy to curb waste and it is flat broke? That government statement was obviously more political than economic and there is no way they can do it. Why not just admit to Nigerians what some of Us already know? We are damn broke and poor
Re: Kukah: N5,000 Payment To Poor Nigerians, A Big Scam by mediainc: 3:21pm On Dec 01, 2021
It really sounds ridiculous, please leave our subsidy, we deserve to eat national cake too. Find out how you can remove the fraud in the subsidy system. You can use prepaid fuel cards, linked to bank accounts of all Nigerians, so each Nigeria gets direct subsidy discounts on the card, which will be used for fuel purchase only.

You don't throw away the baby and the birth water, think government, think, we are paying you guys so much to find solutions not suffer us.

The poor use transportation daily which uses fuel, transportation prices will triple, the poor uses (I pass my neighbor generator) which uses fuel. I wonder why the government acts like this...do they really consider the economic implications of removing fuel subsidy, without even producing 24hrs electricity?

When fuel price increase, everything goes up.
