OFFICE OF THE HEAD OF THE CIVIL SERVICE OF THE FEDERATION

DISCLAIMER

RE: PREPARE FOR DELAY IN DECEMBER SALARY

The attention of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has been drawn to a circular purportedly issued by the office advising civil servants to exercise caution in spending their November salary because of possible delay in the payment of their December salary.

The fake news has unfortunately been published in some newspapers and some social media platforms without verifying. For the avoidance of doubt, it must be stated that the office at no time issued any such circular in respect of salary.

The Nigerian Civil Servants and the general public are hereby advised to disregard the contents of the fake circular as the work of mischief makers.

Furthermore, the said signatory to the circular, one Dr. S.A. Adegoke is not a staff of the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation as there is no record of such an officer in the office.

It stands to reason therefore that those behind the so-called circular are just out to cause mischief by spreading false information for reasons best known to them.

It bears restating therefore that:

(a) The so-called circular is nothing but fake news;

(b) No such circular was written or emanated from the office;

(c) The general public should please disregard the news for what it is: a tale told by those out to cause unnecessary panic and disaffection among Civil Servants; and

(d) That the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation will continue to place high premium on the welfare of workers.

When I called the report fake on the other thread, some folks attacked me thinking I just want to defend the government. The entire report was very senseless and illogical. Even if government cannot pay workers salaries, they won’t admit it not to talk of issuing circular to advice workers not to spend their November salaries.

The circulars in contention are internal circulars at a FMC and NPF. The two agencies very likely have exhausted their personnel budget. We have about 1000 Federal MDAs but the report was based on an internal circular issued by the heads of just two agencies with shortfall in their personnel budget.

All federal workers will receive their December salaries without any delay except those in agencies that have exhausted their budget. This is not a big deal if you are conversant with how federal government operates and it has nothing to do with shortage of funds/revenue. It is just a budgetary problem in the affected agencies.

Workers would be paid most especially for this December. FG has been consciously cautious about workers salary and fuel scarcity in every December, I mean Apc government

Lolz. Even if the so-called disclaimer is the fake information, you will praise it.

Why do you behave like a political slave like this?

This present government has not been joking with workers salary.

Not like previous government that was borrowing money to pay salary even when the oil price was high .

Again, we are in December, nothing like fuel scarcity, obviously, salary would be taken care of

Let’s assume you’re even right that government is printing money to meet some basic obligations. So, between printing money to pay workers and not paying workers at all as a result of low revenue, which one is better for the economy?

Will you die if you stop believing fake news? Is fake news the antidote to bad governance? Can’t the opposition media hold government accountable without publishing senseless lies?

Must everybody support spreading of fake news before folks like you can believe they want a better Nigeria?

All very well, but this shows that the government is having issues raising income for the nation, plus why are MDA's appointing more people than the budget can take care of? It is almost as if your government and its workers are treating the national budget like free candy or something...

And we do have shortages of funds....which is why the subsidy on fuel is on its way out. Oil prices also have not been as high as we want it to be as well.
