Dear KWSG the synthetic is sinking
By O. T. Muhideen

Thomas Jefferson was the third democratically elected president of the United States of America (1801- 1809) while stating the Embargo Act of 1807 in the United States he said “ when a man assumes a public trust he should considered himself a public property”. He further stressed the need for the embargo act “as the leader of the United States I shall be responsible for any good or bad done to our public properties” the rest is history, story for another day.

Let us come to the recent happenings in our dear state , for years before our self independence from the shackles of a dynasty that deteriorated our public properties through mismanagement, frauds and neglects, our public facilities deteriorated from zero to nothing but despite the hurdles , the devil find it deem fit to refurbished our stadium, the then governor of Kwara state Sen. Abubakar Bukola Saraki brought the dying stadium back to life , according to research, after the refurbishment the stadium was said to nearly meet European standards , like they say “the rest is history” but the synthetic is sinking.

Let me not bore you with rhetorics, the recent abuse of the stadium by organizations, political groups and ministries under the watch of his excellency, the present occupant of Amhadu Bello state house Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq is alarming, one will wonder if the state government is not aware of the dangers attached to continuous usage of the synthetic pitch for public gathering or political hangout as the opposition love to call it. Honestly the synthetic is sinking .

The program “ cracking the glass ceiling the story of Kwara women“ is no doubt an eye opener to the fact that there is no limit to what our women can achieve in and outside politics, but to a progressive who believe in the growth of the state, who owns a mind of his own, one will agree to the fact that it was an excellent program at the wrong venue , considering the fact that the synthetic pitch is as good as dead which need urgent intervention not emergency usage. I have read different views in defense and against the usage of the synthetic pitch from the ruling party especially from those the opposition tagged “Data boys” and from the opposition party especially from those the ruling party tagged “peoples of yesterday” to the popular Aanigba they seems to have shelved their swords. But in reality , the accusation from the opposition is with an hidden intention, they have attacked the governor collectively without appreciating the excellent program “cracking the glass ceiling, the story of Kwara women “ and another thing they failed to commend may be they need to be reminded that Governor AA signs bill mainstreaming 35% gender inclusion in government in the state, honestly this is a landmark achievement but the synthetic is sinking.

In defense, the camps within the ruling party have put up a foul defense, they have argued collectively that the program was not only outstanding, it was an eye opener to our women who want to do great, they reminds the opposition that the governor of the state signs a new bill the same day, they also open the eyes and ears of the opposition to the fact that the synthetic is planned to be refurbished next year and at such it has been budgeted for 2022 fiscal year, but one will wonder if the aforementioned defense are enough reasons to further damage the faded pitch that the league Management Company (LMC) already declared unfit to hold Nigeria Professional Football league in a letter dated December 9th 2021. Yes they highlighted the importance of the program but they failed to accept the fact that the usage of that pitch was wrong, they know but they decided to defend wrongs , it’s called “politics” but the synthetic is sinking .

Let me revisit Jefferson’s quote “when a man assumes public trust he should considered himself a public property” this is for Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq the working governor of the state, he is the leader of the state, decisions and directives are within his reach, like Jefferson said earlier, the good and the bad done to improve or damage public properties under the watch of a leader , it’s the sole responsibility of such leader. Like I always say “ History is not a bastard” but the synthetic is sinking.
