It’s Like Yesterday
(for Kaku Hidetaka and all the beloved ones in Japan)

It’s like yesterday
When we used to play
It’s like yesterday
When we had a lot to say
It’s like yesterday
When we were still together
It’s like yesterday
If you can still remember
It’s like yesterday
And we wished it would last forever
It’s like yesterday
But now it’s all over.
Yet the memories still linger
And I don’t want them to go away
For I always wanted you to stay
To stay with me longer
Longer and longer, longer and longer
Praying and wishing it will last forever.

By Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima
Composed at about 4 pm on Monday 13, 2011, in the office in Lagos, Nigeria.
The poem is best rendered as a song for rock ballad.

Makes me remember Japan all over again
Had such a fabulous time in Tokyo. Roppongi. Where all we the geijin go. Then Osaka. Then the very respectable town of Kyoto.
