There are reputable agencies and lawyers in Nigeria that handle adoptions. You need to make the contacts. One requirement however is that the couple have to spend about 2-3 months in Nigeria. The standards are the normal ones. 1 Like 1 Share |

You do not adopt babies in Nigeria. You purchase them. Please, head to Abia state baby farms. Thank you! Better still, contact Madam whatsherface? She can help you deliver 11 babies in 12 months. . . abracadabra! https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-687885.0.html www.nairaland.com/attachments/461010_nn_jpgb034e3196cea908fe6a93789f835033f Ten months later, Mrs Precious conceived and delivered the seven babies within intervals of one month . When Saturday Vanguard visited the home of the family, the husband Mr Donatus Ogbonna, a business man from Imo State was at home. Or, marry one geriatric fertillity goddes from Imo State with a super "fertile" uterus without ovaries and uterus! Behold. . .and your friend can name the child 'Rapture'! 8 Likes |

^ in Nigeria or the U.S? That's a shame that they would refuse to let good parents adopt a kid because their "too young". Unless you guys are like 17 & 18 lol. 1 Like |

D_BestDoc: You sound even more interrogatory than the social workers, that would be handling adoption. His friend could have personal reasons, reasons that he's not obligated to share on a public board. Lots of non-Africa celebrities have adopted African children, adoption placement is not limited to racial matches alone. 4 Likes 1 Share |

@ pleep, in Imo State. We went to several & we are in our thirties. I heard that it is just as hard to adopt a child there as it is in the States, just less expensive. Seems crazy to me as the state of some of those homes is appalling. Especially the Red Cross one. It was terribly dirty there was even trash on the floor where the babies were playing, things that could have choked them if they put in their mouth. No toys, very very hot no fan even. Babies were all dirty and in dirty pampers. SAD! 15 Likes 3 Shares |

^^ damn, at that point all the protocol really doesn't help anyone, much less the children. there was even trash on the floor where the babies were playing, things that could have choked them if they put in their mouth. This is really the worst part |

I think you should invove a lawyer or better still go to alausa secretariat and register at the welfare dept.(if you are resident in Lagos).Or better still go to your husbands state of origin.Don't believe that trash that you are too young to adopt. This kids in this so called orphanages are just sufering lack of a lot of things including water.I just adopted one recently and behold it was like removing the kid from prison .Because after medical treatment you need to see the transformation.Honestly i wish it is possible for everyone to show love for this kids by adopting them.I wish you Goodluck do not give up. 20 Likes 2 Shares |

D_BestDoc: I see no reason why you should not express your concern about the welfare of Nigerian children. There was a story on Oprah about a foreign child adopted by an American; she was passed around to his friends to be molested and filmed! They had it on tape! And the girl was interviewed on Oprah. I couldn't watch the whole thing. So, D_BestDoc, you can never ask too many questions. Don't stop being concerned about the children. Also, the potential adoptee will be asked a lot of questions; they might as well get used to it. It doesn't mean people or the authorities are suspecting them. If you act offended by simple queries, that's what will make people suspicious of your motives. 13 Likes |

I intended glancing through the topic, but some responses were just 'argggh'. When people ask questions on a forum, they are entitled to be economical with the truth. I agree totally with Siena. At poster, there are lots of orphanages looking to give children to qualified applicants. But trust Nigerian authorities to make things super, dupar diffifult. Try heart of Gold hospice in surulere and All Saints orphanage. The irony is the the part of the Country where someone was refused for being too 'young' is where babies are bought two a penny. Recently, there was a spawn of the evil one who is a medical practioner who was 'inserminating' young girls with his specimen and selling them to the highest bidder! The icing on the case was that he plead NOT guilty. We all know where that case will end up. 4 Likes 1 Share |

I'm finding this info on Nigerian adoption pretty useful and interesting: https://binti.com/adoption/international/nigeria/ The number of Nigerian adoptions has been going up every year! This is the list from that page of the Nigerian adoption requirements, if its helpful: Residency: Individuals wanting a Nigeria adoption must be citizens of Nigeria. Americans may adopt, but they must have a dual citizenship in order to adopt from Nigeria. Prospective adoptive parents must also have the child they want to adopt in their home (in Nigeria) for a period of several months to several years before they will be able to obtain an adoption in Nigeria. Age: Parents must be a minimum of 21 years older than the child they want to adopt. They also must be at least 25 years old to be eligible for an adoption in Nigeria. Marriage: Married couples must both adopt and they also must both be Nigerian citizens. Single individuals may only adopt children of the same sex unless there is an exclusion granted by the Nigerian court. Family Size: There is no standard set limiting the size of family couples or individuals seeking an adoption in Nigeria. Income: Prospective adoptive parents must prove they are financially stable and able to care for additional children throughout the Nigeria adoption process. Education: No education limit has been set for a Nigeria adoption. Health: Though the adoption process in Nigeria does not set a health standard, it is assumed applicants will have a health report in their home study certifying that their health is sufficient to raise adopted children. Criminal: Though the adoption process in Nigeria does not set a criminal standard, it is assumed applicants who have criminal histories will have an explanation and a certified disposition by the court in their home study. Other: Currently, Nigerian law does not prohibit homosexual couples and individuals from adopting from Nigeria, but there is a bill proposing such a law. In general, those known to be gay or lesbian may not obtain a Nigeria adoption. 12 Likes |
